A few years ago I purchased a HK 247 and the L890 studio series from JBL for the mains. I have never been that impressed with the setup. It lacks impact and dynamics. I figured that the receiver just lacked the necessary power to have the impact I am looking for. Well, a friend of mine sold me his Denon AVR-3802 for next to nothing. My plan is to use the HK as a pre-amp and use the Denon for power.
My other option would be to sell both and buy something with the power and newer technology and more features. Something like this:
