I know these questions are brought up all the time, so I apologize if it seems redundant. But these threads are usually empty, so I thought I would try to seek some input from you experts out there.
I'm looking for a $200-$300 receiver for my setup. I have the BIC FH56 unpowered soundbar - runs at 8 ohms. It's got 5 speakers in it (LCR, surrounds) all built in to the one unit. It's huge.
Specs:
Design: 625 wat 3 or 5 Discrete Channel Bar Speaker System with wall mounts
Frequency Response: 37Hz-23kHz
Sensitivity: 96dB @ 1 watt, 1 meter, high efficiency output to 116dB
Drivers:
(2) 6 1/2" injection molded woofers, (3) 6 1/2" mid/high frequency horns, (2) 4 1/4" side mounted surrounds.
I also have the BIC H100 sub (500 watts peak). Sadly, the wife won't let me keep my full 5.1 setup.
I'm considering:
HK 1700 - $199 new
Yamaha v473 - $289 new
Yamaha v471 - $199 (no networking, no discrete amps)
Onkyo 414 - $239 new (no audyssey, known HDMI issues that may/may not have been rectified with FW updates)
Denon 1613 - $250 refurbished
Marantz 1402 - $289 refurbished (OOS)
I only use HDMI connections, so having multiple component/analog options are not useful to me but I wouldn't rule one out if it came with them.
Networking would be nice for future-proofing, but not entirely necessary. But a nice option to have.
I do NOT own Apple products - I'm an Android guy.
I'm mainly using this for watching TV, movies, and listening to music. Sound quality is important to me.
I'm coming from an Onkyo 605 which I've loved, but have outgrown (not enough HDMI inputs). My complaints are that it runs very hot, and is loud when turning on/off.
I've gone back and forth between the HK 1700 and the v473. I know about Onkyo's HDMI issues, but it seems those have been worked out with new firmware updates. So now the 414 is in the mix, as it has a lot of features for the price.
