Global Cache Itach

Has anyone used the Global Cache, Itach I/R to WiFi unit? Its my understand this device coupled with Roomie app for Iphone can control many IR devices. I just got one in and it states you should be able to see when looking at wireless devices with laptop but I cant see it. I'm just curious if there is something I'm missing or if the device is bad out of the box? --- which would be my luck. Any advice appreciated.

Isn't it the other way around?

I guess. Depends on how you look at it. The whole system is Aton DLA-6 to ITach to Roomie on my Apple Iphone 4S. However, it looks like this may be fairly complicated set up so I was looking to see if anyone had done it before. I saw in another forum on the web where people have done it but I'm not a member of those forums.

How are you sending the IR signal from the iTach to the Aton unit?

If you're hard-wiring from the iTach directly to the IR input on the Aton, you'll need to use the GC-CGX Xantech converter cable, as the Global Cache devices are using (I believe) 5V IR signals, where the Aton is expecting the much-more-standard 12V.

I had the same issue with the Aton HDR44 - but it's really a compatibility issue with the iTach.

Jeff,
Sorry I've been traveling. The pic I've included came with the ITach. Now I'm a novice for sure but I saw on different sites where supposedly all you need is Aton DLA6 wtih IR capability, ITACH, and Roomie. I envisioned (probably incorrectly) that the Roomie Iphone app would take commands and send them to the ITach which would convert them to IR which would be seen by the Aton unit. However, the documentation with all products is SO POOR that it is difficult to understand exactly how to understand function of each piece of equipment to ensure I assume correclty much less configure them. At this point I can see the ITach on my nework and I can communicate to it. I have tried to change the settings of the ITach for it to sit on the network but it seems to not work correctly. I did purchase the Roome app for my Iphone but I figure first thing first, I need to get Itach set up correctly on network and understand how it is suppose to translate cell phone commands on the network to IR. Any advice much, much, appreciated.

There is no IR receiver on the front panel of the DLA unit (unless I'm really missing something). In order to get IR into the unit, it has to come in the back panel, and the iTach's IR output won't be compatible as is. You'll need the Xantech compatibility cable I mentioned above, and probably a spare 3.5mm M/F cable to cut apart to get the individual wires to attach to the Aton's inputs.

If you can see it and talk to it, what settings are you trying to change? "Sit on the network"?

You'll need the discrete IR codes for the Aton DLA loaded into the Roomie app so it can send those commands to the iTach.
