Some potential good news - Diamonddelts over at CHT forums inquired about the new 12K amp via Behringer's facebook page. He asked if they power ratings would be the same as the 6000 at 8 and 4 ohm, to which they replied:
"The 12,000 version has actually two 6000 units inside. So it has double the power. There seems to be an error with the specs. Thanks for highlighting."
If this is true and there are actually two bridged 6000 units inside, that would be pretty awesome.
The 6000 is already bridged (two 3000's).
The given spec's would be consistent with paralleling two more to allow 2 ohm loads, which is consistent with the same power at 8/4 and 2X at 2.
At first blush it doesn't seem to make sens marketing-wise because they don't claim more power at 8/4, but anyone needing this much power must be using multiple drivers, though I guess there's only a 50/50 chance they can be arranged into a 2 ohm load.
Another possibility is that they're upping the PS voltage as well, but it's unlikely they wouldn't have claimed the higher power that would allow.
