HSU HB-1 vs B&W 602

The HSU HB-1 are OOS but for the same price, I can get used/like-new B&W 602. I am looking for pair to use as fronts for my Living room setup. To be combined with a center and sub (undecided which, looking for recommendations). Might power them with a Yamaha RX-V573 and use the surround outs to bi-amp the front speakers.

Any comparison?

I've never hear the B&Ws but I own the Hsus. The HB-1s are great speakers and you can drive them w/o a problem with your Yamaha. They play clean, clear and get plenty loud with no distortion as far as I can tell. Great for music as they extend pretty low into the 50s in my room. I often use them without a sub and even sometimes find myself checking to see if the sub's on or not. You could get one of their hybrid setups and move your others to the rear as you suggested. The rosenut finish is really nice too smile.gif

IMO, these are completely different speakers. I would audition the HSUs at home before making a decision. The current B&W 685s are much better than the 602s. What is the asking price for the used pair of 602s that you are considering?

Are you able to listen to them? Based on price alone I would be inclined to go with the Hsu HB-1s. However, the horn-loaded tweeters don't agree with everyone.

If you do go with the 602s, be sure that you are getting the S2 or S3 series. Some SQ slight improvement over the S1, and of course, they would be newer.
