Office projector that's also good for movies

I know a good office projector and a good HT projector are not one and the same, but I've been tasked at work to replace an aging conference room projector. I'm looking to spend around $1000 for a good office projector that will also be a good one for an occasional movie. Also, is it worth it to replace the 4:3 screen with a 16:9 (with an additional budget of $500) or with a primarily business projector, is the 4:3 ratio a better option? Thanks

would an Epson be a good choice with the high light output?

What is your current projector? screen? table or ceiling mount?etc..

Go with 16:9. Most office/laptop monitors are widescreen now.. TVs, videos, powerpoint.. you get the idea.

Now as far as a good "business" projector, any sufficiently bright HT projecotor will work. Some business projectors include things like wireless, or the ability to play back presentations from usb, etc. But these are hardly priorities (especially for fixed installations) Keep in mind this is mainly a HT forum, so that's going to skew the recommendations.

Find coderguys thread on the "best projectors" with your priorities being resolution, brightness and sharpness (and possibly bulb life) you can find a good upgrade (with screen) under your budget. The benqs are known for sharpness.

Thanks for the response

Currently, we're running an NEC NP1150 that has wireless connectivity (for wirelessly connecting from a laptop for a presentation, for example). The room is 14.5' wide x 19' long and the screen is 10' at a 4:3 ratio. The projector is ceiling mounted.

Thanks again.

I will look at he coderguys thread on this

3700 lumens and 10'? Brightness is definitely a priority unless you enjoy meetings in the dark. I can't recall any HTprojector over 3000. Viewsonic does make some in 1080p pro8500? but they aren;t cheap.

I didn;t spend much time but it seems if you want to get something like what you have now, they price is nice

if you think a HT projector might be bright enough, the brightest HT projectors might work and give a nice bump in resolution. Otherwise, business seems the way to go. Especially if losing wireless etc would make people unhappy. Wish i could be more help. good luck.
