NOOB question about new speakers and receiver HT

i'm new to the world of HT, and just purchased my first projector, Epson 8350. I am in the market for a good surround sound system, possibly going 7.1. Got a price of around a $1000 for this setup, Definitive technology 60.6 surround sound, and 2 definitive techs bp6b, with a Yamaha RX-V571BL 7.1-Channel AV Receiver, with 2 monster m1000hd 50ft hdmi cables. the HT is in my basement, which is about 23'W x 50'L, the projector is viewable from anywhere in the basement, so i want to be able to get the sound throughout the basement., wondering if this should do the trick. also wondering if the $1000 i am paying for the surround sound system i s a good deal?

Thanks in advance, any help, opinions, or recommendations are greatly appreciated

Putting that system into that huge room is like putting a lawn mower motor into a dump truck! You are talking 3.5 inch drivers in a 1,000+ sq ft room. You will likely want to look at towers with 6 inch (or larger) drivers...
Also, a couple 15 inch subs might be required!

true, i had a panasonic HTIB and i filled the room pretty well, loud and clear, but wanted to go bigger, so this is what was suggested at the store. i don't want to wake the neighbors , just have a clear, nice sounding theater experience.
any suggestions you might have as to what kind of speakers or brands you might recommend ?

thanks again

sorry forgot to mention, budget is around $1000, give or take a couple hundred

There are entire houses that aren't 1000 sq ft!
I would recommend put all 1000 dollars into a 2.1. A couple decent towers and the best sub possible. The klipsch 12d often goes for 300 dollars and that is too small...so maybe get 2 and then 2 infinity primus p363s!
Or...2 pairs if def tech sm350s (around 200/pr) and the best sub you can afford!
But...only you can determine what is best for you! Btw, the def tech 60.6 would be a nice bedroom set up!

If you haven't bought those monster HDMI cables yet look at mono price for any and all cables...you'll save a lot...smile.gif

i actually ended up getting the monster cable for $75 brand new from Pauls tv, best deal i've seen around, even though that is still high for hdmi cables, checked monoprice, and their high end cables are only about $10-$15 cheaper, compared to what im paying, and i'm hoping that the monster work better with the long length that i need

i had the panasonic sc-btt195 1000w 5.1, at about 3/4 volume my said she can hear it upstairs clearly when playing call of duty biggrin.gif
it's a good system but lacks the hdmi inputs that i needed to have a complete HT experience without running multiple cables to my projector, but it was a foray into the unkown for me, so i've been learning from the forums, and talking to reps and various electronics stores, i'll stick right here with you smile.gif thanks

Thats not a bad price for what you are getting. Its a good receiver. Are they willing to break it up or you have to take it as a package?

it's actually all individual , so i can pick and choose what kind of speakers i want, they're giving me the the receiver open box for $199, which i can't pass up, but i can add or change any speakers i want

Whats the name of the store? And you are being ripped off badly on those cables.
Have you thought about making the room smaller? Filling 50' x 23' is a tall order for anything under $4000. I'm running a 2600 watt 11.0 plus 3600 watt .2 in a 15' x 16' room.

Mostly DefTech w/ Denon AVR & Emotiva amp.

BP7000SC, CLR3000, JBL L7, UIW BPZ/A, SM55, EoSone RSR 350. Denon AVR 5308ci, Emotiva XPR-5.

man the floor probably shakes in that room, my neighbors would call the cops on me biggrin.gif, but it would be fun

This is roughly $1050 with receiver but will be a lot better than the store offer and will kill what you have. Dont let the price of those Pioneers fool you.

Nope. On a concrete slab. LOL It shakes with or without the transducers in the seating turned on.

Newegg had the DefTech SM450 and SM 350 and BP8B on sale but I think it ends today.

I encourage you to do your research.Dont take my word for it. Monster is hugely overpriced and a big ripoff. Excuse my typing I am on a tablet and trying to hurry. So. You need a 50 ft hdmi cable? Waht else?

checked the bp8b's the newegg promo is good until the 31st, the guy told me they are actually a older model, unless he's pulling my leg, and trying to dump off the bp6's on me

i have everything else, i purchased 16 gauge wire from amazon, already have the wall plates for my hdmi's, and speaker connections, basically the only thing i need is good speakers to have that theater experience, the receiver that he's giving me seems pretty good for $199 price
