I do hate the texting in the theatre while the movie is playing.

The #1 thing that has kept me away from the movies is the price. To me it is literally not worth the expense any more. #2 is that there have been a lot of crappy movies in the past couple years.

I do enjoy HD television programming.

I HATE going to the theater for many reasons. The last movie I saw at the theater was when Seabiscuit came out.

I love being able to start the movie on MY schedule. Now, if you could just skip though all the crap they put on BluRays, I'd be a REALLY happy camper. Be nice to at least be able to REALLY fast forward, not the slow FF they allow. It's jsut like going to the theter, I go down 10 minutes early and start the player. By the time everyone else gets settled the previews are almost over.

When you rip the movie to a HTPC, you lose all of the crap at teh beginning. It's select a movie and it starts playing. Of course, you need some storage for these movies, but drives are cheap. :-) Come out and I'll demo the PopcornHour c-200 for you.

I took the family to see the Hobbit at their instance on New Year's day. We went to the Alamo Theater in Winchester, VA. Now I have to say, it's a pretty good theater. Before I had a HT, I would have thought this place was paradise. You can get a meal, service to your chair and beer. Great idea! The problem come in where they have to have a little lighting so the wait staff can see, and you continually see people walking back and forth serving folks. The theater was crowded, but the crowd was well behaved. The lady next to me ordered a sandwich and chips, so I hear her crunching on them for part of the movie. The sound was OK...not great, but certainly better than the old days. The picture was fantastic. Movie technology has come a long way recently. Overall, it was a distracting mess...the chairs didn't recline, there were people walking around (wait staff), and there was lighting that was distracting. Before this, I had not been to a theater since 2004 to see Cold Mountain). Poor audience behavior really turned me off. To this day, I still don't know what Nicole Kidman said at the end).

It will definitely be quite a while before I go back. I'd like to see a 3D movie, or something in IMAX, but I defiantly have become spoiled with my theater.

(My setup, Panny 4000U, 142" diagonal measure 2.29:1 SMX AT Screen, Axiom speakers LCR, quad pole rear and side surrounds, and a Danley DTS-Spud sub. Motorized leather recliners round out the dedicated HT).

I guess we still do. But only about once a year for some especially 3D or IMAX movie. However, we honestly not truly enjoyed due to the seats, noise, comfort level, and other people.

Really wanted to see Skyfall when it came out so we went to the local theater, generally a negative experience (except for the actual Movie)

1. screen was small (sitting 12' from a 135" screen has really spoiled me)
2. sound was crap (sitting 3' from an SVS Ultra has really spoiled me)
3. people updating Facebook status whilst watching the movie was really distracting.....(and we wonder why ADD is on the increase)
4. got sick from all the people coughing and sneezing

Suffice it to say, we will not be venturing out from our Home Theater for the foreseeable future.

Very rarely. Took the kids to see the Midnight showing of The Hobbit, and Part 2 will probably be the next time.

HAHAHA. Maybe! All I could think of was Chris Isaak singing "Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing"

Just a remembrance of my late father-in-law. He went to the original release of Gone with the Wind, didn't much care for it, and never went back to another movie. That was for another 50 some years. In his later years when the topic of movies came up at family gatherings he never failed to remind us of that fact. RIP Stan.

No, he did care for that and went back at least four more times.
