Thanks for the info. I will take the 24 hours.

I will try it tonight.

I didn't need a land line either, but the package turned out to be cheaper by adding the land line then I was paying without it.

With this new version it doesn't seem to work, anyone have a work-around?

You just hit red record button while show is highlighted.

There is a code posted somewhere on this forum that allows you to go back to the old guide if you don't like the new one. Plus with the new guide, you can advance a day at a time.

In the old guide, (I have not tested the new guide) you cpould go to the main guide, navigate all the way over to the left and highlight the channel you want to manually record, and you should be able to click on enter or record once the channel is high lighted and set a manual recording.

Anyone else notice with the new guide.... If you are watching a show that is still recording, and pause it, you are unable to resume, it just stays on pause. You can skip back 30 seconds and it will resume from there. but, hitting the play button will not resume the program once it is paused. This happened to me a few times last night, but not every time it was paused.

As I thought I said in my post, this doesn't seem to work in the new guide, anyone else with new guide get it to work?

Yes it brings up a window asking you if you want this show or series recording

That is completely unrelated to my question, and has nothing to do with setting a manual recording

Thank you though for taking the time to respond

Anyone know a link so I "could" go back to the old guide if I wanted to?

The window asks if you want this recorded or more of the same show recorded to clarify. Maybe I am not clear on what you mean by manual recording.
If you want to record all shows on the channel. I just saw a window that asks you when you want the start time you can select what day and time and the duration. You hit the record button while on the channel icon it brings it up.

I am not sure what the op was asking either, but it did answer what I thought he was asking. Which saved me a post a few days from now.

I want to be able to record espn2 from 347am-1024am next Tuesday 2/11

Pre-x1, there was a tab for that

1st x1 guide had somewhat of a procedure, the updated guide seems to lack this functionality altogether

It does this if you go to the channel icon on the left of the shows then hit record button. It then brings up a window select start then hit ok there is a option for date and time and duration.

Thank you, I will try this when I get home

I wish the tweaks of how long u set a manual recording would be more precise

This works, thank you

I like the new guide so far. It's seems snappier (except on the the additional boxes). Only thing I'd like to do is to be able to change the text size of the guide as it all seems very crowded.
I like the new guide, but I do miss the small window that showed the program I was watching while looking at the guide. I don't care for the guide being overlaid because you really can't see much even with the brightness settings.
Not sure I like it, but at least we have the 24 hour guide skip.

The old X-1 platform guide has 24 hour advance. When in the main guide use the fast forward key to jump 24 hours. Found this out by accident just a few nights ago. Sure would be nice if the X- 1 / 2 had a more comprehensive manual…

Is there a mini guide that keeps the picture? Do you at least have the sound of the channel you are watching when in the main guide?

Press the "B" button and a small screen will appear on bottom right while in guide
post #1254 of 1424
I have good news in that while Comcast SAYS you can't mix x1 boxes with standard boxes, I got a new old-fashioned digital box and I'm going to be able to swap it out with my DVD recorder dedicated x1 box

This will allow the DVD recorder to control the channels via the IR blaster

The standard boxes also allow you zoom SD letterboxed content, which is good for my DVD recording. As well as during football season when a few of my boxes are feeding computer monitors, which lack aspect ratio control

Thank you for that info. How did you find that out? Do you have the secret manual that no one else has?
BOZOO, billmich answered that question. While there was still sound, you can get a small picture by pressing the B button.
In my area, you can DEFINITELY have both X1 and non X1 boxes in your home. I've personally installed customers with 8 sets, having x1dvr, regular hddvr, 3 x1 HD terminals, a DCT, and 2 HDDTA's (not including the phone and internet services). YMMV of course. Comcast's policies vary greatly by region/division.

Just randomly hit a-d buttons and see what happens on every screen

Oh I see, the scientific approach. Haha. Once again thanks for the info about the guide.

I had the 24 hour advance while in X1 format for about 2 days, then it went away. I had to change to X2 format to get the 24 hour advance back.
