Wow. You all have a lot of patience. Best of luck.

Im heading to DirecTV..... Today. Right after I drop off these X1 s at the local Comcast.

Too bad because its a pretty neat system. But they are so far off. So far.....

On top of that Their CS has to be the worst of all time.

Got up this morning around 6 and my X1 was working. I was also watching TV @12:30AM when I went to bed. I was watching the last of the Breaking Bad episodes I had recorded earlier and all worked well. No problems that i know of here on this end unless it all happened between these hours. I duno.

It amazes me how differently this system works based on region. I have had really good luck with this system and I like it a lot. It even passes muster with the WAF. Must be the clean life I am living since retirement. tongue.gif

Does anyone know how to turn off the upscaling / resolution "feature" so I get the native resolution out of the dvrs? I have an XG1-P and a RNG 15DN. I want to feed native resolution to my scalers. Thanks smile.gif
post #754 of 1424
You can't. There is no native mode.

I had a Comcast tech out today to check this.

He checked everything. Replaced all my terminations and ground block.

It does it on Holmes Makes it Right. But not on other On Demand titles. So he couldn't figure it out.

Comcast is notoriously slow at rolling out new features, so I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Well. Back to skipping recordings. Didn't record Once Upon A Time at 8. Good thing I had it backed up on the Tivo. It's still in the cue as needing to record tonight.

It started one of my recordings 7 minutes late on Saturday for some reason that I haven't figured out yet.

I think this is all part of Comcast's plan to get us to stop recording things and using On Demand whenever possible... smile.gif

Spoke with a tier 2 X1 tech last week due to an open ticket I had, and he told me they are working on the issue of some programs not recording for their customers. He said it was only affecting 1% of the customers, but with a million of them, it was a lot of people affected. So, he said the known issue with the missing DD 5.1 audio for the recordings watched on the sat boxes will be addressed "in 3 months or so". eek.gif Hope he was being conservative in that estimate!

Thanks for the info. In the meantime, many of us have the "record light that won't go off" so we'll have less idea of whether something is actually recording or not. Maybe for Comcast that qualifies as a feature!

If that's their reply, they will be short one more comcast customer. I've never seen it take this long for a simple fix. Longest I ever had an audio issue as a beta tester with Dish was about 4 days before they had a new beta firmware for testing.

Is there a button to advance the guide by 12 hours like direct tv?
Nope. Not that either.

Im also having this issue its the most frustrating issue so far. seems just as the shows get going or start to draw me in I fast forward the commercial only to have the box reset the recording. this is a firmware issue for sure because it only happens on the other box and isn't consistant with every recording. if u figure out what second that recording does the reset u can exit then restart the recording then fast forward to that point but u cant fast forward beyond that point or the recording will restart again. its so annoying.

Little advice for the people like me who are going to tivo. Usually tivo runs a promo around thanksgiving and Christmas. U don't have to pay for the box up front but your locked in for a 1-2 year contract. if u pay the monthly service fee for that term u dont have to pay for the box. The newest tivo has Multi room function built in. Has more tuners. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing the new tivo is not buggy like the x1.
Best of luck to you on TiVo.

But I'm not spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on boxes.

Tech I spoke to on phone said I was having micro reflections and the diagnostic would not report my upstream level.

Micro reflections are apparently the modem's up stream signal being reflected back to itself.

Do they ever run lifetime specials for new users? I picked up a Premier XL4 for just $100 and I'm looking for a lifetime deal. I currently have the Comcast RNG200 which I'm happy with except I have a backlog of recordings to watch before I switch. I've been watching this thread for quite awhile and X1 is definitely not ready for primetime.
I think they should've taken a similar approach to U-verse. In that the boxes can be networked via gigabit Ethernet. And a main router/hub transcodes the coax RF signal to IP.

Since the X1 STB's are so sensitive to data and splitters drop amps seem to be an issue among other things.

Now it's decided to record nothing tonight. Even restarted the receiver.

hello,

we got an update at 6:30am est won't know what it did until last this evening.
My satellite box is acting like my main box. When I pull up the guide it is showing it the same way my main box does which does not fit the screen. It used to look different and fit the screen. The sat box used to change channels just by entering the number and it would change with a short delay on its own. Now it's acting like the main box, enter the number and then have to press ok to get it to change. I want to call comcast, but quite honestly, I just don't feel like dealing with them today. I tried restarting and a hard reset with no change. Anyone seeing the same or have suggestions?
I decided to call comcast about my issue and it is now resolved. Had to reset the box for a standard definition tv (no hi def in bedroom). Why it reset itself is beyond me. My guess is a firmware update caused it. I wish they could get it right.

Does anyone know of they charge you extra for the X1?

I was told that the x1 was not available in my area when I ordered Comcast. The installer had some issues with the standard box and said he was going to try the x-1 anyway. It worked. I still get charged my quoted price. But, they are running a radio promotion here for Comcast double and triple play and at the end of the commercial they say, X1 box not included in price. So who knows.

Funny, with all the issues I was having with my X1, I just figured it was because I was not supposed to have one. Then I find this forum, and I know it's not that, it is just the box.

But I do have to say, that the past week, things have been doing what their supposed to do. knock wood.
