My box is also on ver. 4915, but as long as it is working correctly I will leave as is.

Two questions: First, I've tried to program the 30sec skip ahead function on my X1 remote, the dark grey one, using the button sequence posted in earlier threads but can't get it to work. Is there some length of time you should hold the exit button down? Any help would be appreciated. Second: I apologize up front because I know this has been answered (but I can't find it) can someone tell me how to bring up the diagnostic page so I can see my latest update, please?

For the record, my recordings issue has been been fixed and I'm getting back previously recorded shows. The X1 seems to be working much better now. Had since August. Thanks!z

Make sure you are pointing the remote at the X1 box when you do the sequence. You are actually programming the X1 box to do the 30 second skip, not the remote.

Thanks, guys. Didn't get a chance to test it out tonight but will let you know tomorrow. The reason I didn't get a chance is because I was dealing with a whole new issue. Turned on MNF tonight and immediately noticed that my picture on the right hand side of screen was cut off. On further examination, it was a solid black bar running vertically on far right side and was about 2in wide. Made the bevel look twice as big as left. At first, I thought the screen orientation had gotten moved somehow but quickly realized that was not the case. After going through multiple pic settings and trying out different feeds, I realized it was the feed from the X1. I finally switched the X1 from 1080p to 480i and then back and that fixed it. Very weird. Someone mentioned in a thread earlier that theses boxes need to be turned off from time to time. I'm starting to believe that to be very true.

hello all,

please don't put anything on top of your X1 box. I had a wd media player on top of mine and it caused some issues. after moving the media player the box plays again. it needs to vent.

Do people turn their X1 box when done watching tv? I mean turning off via the front power ring, since the remote won't do it (by stupid design).

Twice in the last 3 days the box has frozen when I try to turn it back on. The clock is not showing the right time, the only fix is hard unplug, which causes a reset. Also, some of the settings don't seem to persist. I'm on 4928.

Has anyone gotten the XR5 remote? XR2 buttons are really close together, not distinguishable in the dark unlike the old remotes. Thinking of ordering it for $20.

It is recommended that you leave the X1 on at all times. And the XR5 remote is identical to the XR2 except for the back lighting, so the buttons will be placed the same.

Why is it recommended to keep the X1 on at all times? Software updates?

My X1 drives me crazy on a daily basis. Deleting programs from my DVR is hit or miss. More often then not the deletion is not immediately recognized from the list itself. I get the pop-up that the program has deleted but it remains clearly listed in my saved column. Only later do I see it truly removed.

If I can't get an X2 STB down the road, and the X1 continues this buggy performance, I'll be forced to ditch the X1 and use something else.

X1 will download and update on its own eventually, and then reboot itself. And as for X2, it will simply be a software upgrade to your existing X1 box.

Lately, when I go to delete programs I get a message that there is an issue with Comcast and that the service I am trying to perform is unavailable. I notice the program is still listed, but there is a check mark or something next to it.
Other than sometimes when I turn everything on, I have to shut audio receiver off and then back on to get sound, and the and a rare missed recording, It has been working pretty good.

The only reason I can come up with to keep the X1 on at all times is updates. And knowing that you can obtain updates manually makes me think that unplugging the box from a power source isn't an issue.

The X2 was announced this past summer as both a software update to the X1 and also it's own STB with no internal HDD and more compact.

Are you folks experiencing this issue.......

My receiver detects a DD 5.1 signal when I have the X1 set in "surround" mode. The problem I am having is the X1 will continue to send a DD 5.1 flag to my receiver even if the actual source material is NOT out putting in 5.1 (2 channel stereo).

When that happens my receiver will show the DD signal, but the sound will only come out of the left and right main speakers and subwoofer (2.1 stereo).

What I want to be able to do (like I could with my prior DCX3400) is to take that true 2 channel stereo signal and turn that into a matrix surround sound (Dolby Pro Logic II) decoded by my A/V receiver.

So the bottom line is the X1 either sends a "2 channel stereo" flag (when in "stereo" mode setting) or a Dolby Digital flag when in "surround" mode setting. This is not allowing the A/V receiver to do any matrix surround sound settings.

Thanks

Why would you ever need to turn off the X1? There is no reason to. And, the X2 update to current X1 boxes will be before any new STB is rolled out.

Well in my personal X1 situation, the machine is very loud and I prefer it off in my bedroom while I sleep. HD DVR's are notorious energy consumers. So it's a win-win. For now I'm unplugging my X1 before bed and plugging it back in when I return from work. I don't lose any scheduled recordings this way.

Regardless if the X2 update is coming first to the X1, the X2 STB is coming in due time. I read a recent article that Comcast plans to promote it heavily during the winter olympics.

I have noticed the same thing, I've just come to the conclusion that it will eventually get fixed. Hopefully in my lifetime. I tried using the optical out but have the same results.

I had scheduled Comcast to come out and remove all my X1 gear and was going to go the Tivo route but decided at the last minute it was just too expensive. Now I'm at their mercy.

New bug. The progress bar is not working properly when I was watching DVR's material. Just a bunch of numbers all the way to the right.

The good news is I have spoken to an employee on the X1 development team about this in detail and the fact that the X1 does not have a "native" resolution setting. She assurred me that this was a priority and will be passed on to the engineers. Stay tuned, I guess!!

BTW, I tried the optical route as well to no avail.

Thank you for taking the time to deal with Comcast. I just don't have the patience. wink.gif

Can some of you confirm this?

Used to be with On Demand, if you paused and the program timed out, you lost your place. Only the restart option was available.

Now, it's allowing me to resume from my last position after a time out.

Hey all, we got the x1 installed and had a question, we had the old DVR box connected via hdmi to avr then hdmi to tv, and analog audio to avr for second room audio. I can't seam to find a way to get this to work on the x1 where we get 5.1 in the main room and 2.0 in zone 2.

I noticed this as well and it's extremely annoying as a work around for content that does this and if you want to matrix it , you will need to set the box to stereo instead of surround. I do this and it works fine but I'm using optical for my audio out and not sure if that matters or not for hdmi.

That does not work for me either.

The numbers are 384434h13m. I am noticing this as well. And, if you notice, the 13m at the end does indicate the true timing of the recording. The number i have posted here was 13 minutes into the recording. At least we can tell at what point we are into the recording, but the lack of the blue time bar coupled with the 384434 hours is a bit awkward.
