i'm a newbie to this forum and Home theater in general, however i finally have my family room finished, have a Panasonic GT50 TV and wanted to add a sound system. I'm not a surround sound fanatic by no means. I'm just looking for somthing basic, my budget is between $400 - $600 for the receiver, speakers, and subwoofer. I'm looking for a 5.1 system as the speaker wire was already ran in my house when i bought the house. I've been doing some research and came across the Yamaha YHT 397 or 497 HTIB. The 497 comes with the RX V373 receiver. I've also seen the Denon AVR 1613 receiver. And Polk RM510 speakers which come with a subwoofer. Going with the Yamaha HTIB or the separate yamaha receiver or Denon receiver, and Polk speakers would keep me within my budget. Any opinions on these systems or other suggestions would be appreciated.
thank you.
