Advice on Speaker Setup (upgrade which speaker(s))?

I'm trying to get my speakers setup properly at this point..

Not sitting in front this moment.. Receiver is a Panasonic VSX-1020k
Fronts are Polk Monitor 60's
Center is a Polk CS2
Klipsch Synergy Sub12 12" 300W
Front Surround are older Bose Bookshelf speakers (I believe they're an older Bose 301 Series)
Rear Surround are some that I hooked up out of boredom (from a old Sony prefab unit, meant for front surround).

Primary use is Movies/Television. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I was actually about to go at the Front Surround and get Polk Bookshelves either monitor 30's or the new replacement.

- run your Pioneer's MCACC room-EQ program;

What do you mean by "front surrounds"? (Surrounds are usually on the side and/or at the back.) Regardless, if you're not happy with the Bose speakers, switching to Monitor 30s sounds like a good way to go, IMO.

And unless you're happy with the Power 12 Sub (12" driver, 75W continuous, 35Hz @ -3dB), I'd consider upgrading that, too, with something like:
- a JBL ES250PBK ($200 @ Amazon.com)
- a Klipsch RW-12d (when on sale for $300-$350 @ Newegg.com)
- a Premier Acoustics PA-150 ($425 @ Amazon.com)
- SVS SB-1000 or PB-1000 ($499, shipped)

Replace surrounds with Polk Monitor 30's or Monitor 35b's and maybe look into a subwoofer replacement if you have the budget.

Why are you wanting to replace anything? What you are not happy with would determine what to replace. The only obvious thing to me would be the sub. The rest are all ok speakers and you would have to spend quite a bit to get anything significantly better. What are you willing to spend?

actually I originally thought my sub was pretty decent (at least when I first purchased). Now I feel like it lacks.. by that I mean it hits lows really hard.. but I can't seem to catch all the frequencies that are missed properly. Crap..

As novice as this seems when I walk into a store.. the sound system is wonderful (of course optimal locations, room dynamics, staging etc..). I just feel like I miss mid range area..

any advice on a nice powerful sub.. I like to blow the walls away when necessary. But I also wanna catch some of those mid frequencies that the L/F do not hit.

CORRECTION.. MY SUB IS A : klipsch Synergy Sub12 12" 300W (24Hz-120Hz +/- 3dB) 300W Maybe my crossover is set to low....

Thats asking a lot from a sub and wont be cheap. You forgot to mention your budget.

ehh.. I suppose reasonable.. which is of course a subjective term. It's to bad my receiver doesn't have 7.2 (or I'd just add maybe a 10inch). But I would think $300 or so.. maybe a little more.

I always thought my Klipsch Synergy Sub 12 was an awesome Sub.. it shakes everything (when it hits), but tends to only really hit well on extremely low frequencies.

You don't need a 7.2 receiver - you can just use a Y-splitter. But if you're going to double up on subs, try sticking to two of the same. It's harder to calibrate a pair of different subs.

The Sub-12 is a decent sub, but it can sound a bit bloated / boomy. Personally, I'd sell it and put the money toward an SVS PB-1000. You'll get more extension, likely more output and almost certainly better "accuracy" / "definition".

(Don't be fooled by the PB-1000's 10" driver and 300W amp. My old SVS PB10-NSD - which appears to have been re-born as the PB-1000 - had a 10" driver and a 325W amp and it was an amazing sub that could run with bigger / more powerful 12" subs. I've heard the Sub-12 and, IMO, the PB-1000 should easily be able to outperform it.)
