Stand recommendation for Kef iq30 speakers?!?

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if anyone could recommend some good quality stands for my Kef iq30 bookshelf speakers. The iq30's have a unique shape to them so that's why I'm unsure about what stands to look for. My price range I guess would be between $200 - $300, I hope that's fair confused.gif. Thanks in advance.

I would just get some Sanus 24" or 26" stands. They should be much less than your stated range unless you opt for some of the heavier metal stands.

I've used the Sanus stands before, and thought the were pretty good.

You want stands that are:

Metal

Rigid and heavy

Have a center column that can be filled with sand or metal bird-shot for mass and damping (essential).

A metal fabrication shop can make them from a 3-inch tube and two plates, and you will have excellent ones at a low price. You can buy spikes to put on them separately.

The Lovan L-JA3BB-966 is an excellent one that is $230. It has excellent mass and rigidity and its 3-post design will handle even the heaviest speakers.

The Dayton SSMB-24 is not too bad for only $70.

nice, thanks for the suggestions everyone. that lovan stand is one hell of a stand, i really like it, looks solidly built and dependable. hey commsysman, are there any other stands of that quality (lovan) around the same price or maybe a bit lower? smile.gif

also, are those post welded on the lovan stands? because i definitely prefer something like that. thanks again.

Check out the Sanus steel or ultimate series stands. They're a bit pricier but built for heavier speakers.

I think that the Lovan stands are all-welded construction.

Sound Anchors are another one.

That Dayton SSMB-24 is probably a good one for your speakers.

It is about the right size and only $65 from Amazon.

You can buy a bag of steel bird shot and fill the tubes to give them more mass.

I own a pair of Usher BE-718's and KEF LS50's for both I use Sanus: http://www.sanus.com/ap/en/products/speaker-foundations/sp-ultimate

I buy a bag of play ground sand from Lowes or Home Depot and fill the tubes. The stands come in different heights, you want the tweeter at ear level.

Ah, great. Good to know. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it.

BTW, do those sanus ultimate series stands have something to hide the wiring, cause i believe the series below the ultimate do have something.

I think when you get to the "Ultimate" level you should be showing off your speaker cables and not hiding them. I am joking! but that's funny.

No cable channel on the ultimates.
