Buying new TV - Samsung UN55ES7100 or LG 55LM6700

Thread Starter
I've been window shopping for a new TV to replace my older 42" Samsung LCD TV. I've came across to models that look very good on display, the Samsung 55" 7100 and the LG 55" 6700.

Other than one being 120Mhz and the other a 240Mhz I'm not seeing much of a difference, even then I'm not sure if 120 vs 240 is going to be a huge difference in regards to our viewing habits. The wife and I will be using it to watch TV, movies, and sports. We don't watch 3D movies, I guess having the ability is nice but right now means nothing to us. That said both from my understanding are 3D.

What are you recommendations of the Samsung vs the LG?

Thanks!

The 6700 series LG doesn't have a 120hz refresh rate. It has a 60hz refresh rate with backlight strobing to reduce judder. The LG 7600 has a true 120hz refresh rate. You are correct in that there's not much difference between a 120 and 240 actual refresh rate.

If your budget would permit it, I'd step up to the Sony 55HX850 - much better performance than either of those those two sets IMO. If I had to choose between the one you've listed, I'd take the Samsung.

The sony 850 is sold out and discontinued. Been there done that. Grab the samsung while you still can or wait until later this year for another sony.
