Around $450-600 for an AV Receiver for Ascend Acoustics speakers - not afraid of used, refurbs or...

Hey guys, it's me again after more than 2 years.

Im brazilian and Im going to New York March the 1rst. And I intend to do some audio shopping, oh yeah!

I already bought me a pair of CMT-340's by Ascend Acoustics, looking into buying a third one for central speaker. The surrounds will be some Klipsch's for now borrowed from my dad because I already have waaaaaaaayyyyyy too much to carry back to Brazil, so my plan of CBM-170's for surrounds will be postponed. But I'll be needing something to drive 'em. From what I hear, them Ascend Acoustics are quite easy driven...

So, what we are (I am, and hopefully you'll help with some input tongue.gif) looking for here is:

- 3D ready
- Good 1080p upscaling
- 7.1 channels ready, if it can support a second subwoofer it would also be nice.

These three aspects are a must. I know these features are pretty standard, and here's what I'm looking for:

1: Audio quality is my top priority, I'm looking for the best audio quality I can get.
2: Room correction/Nice Room Setup options and interface. That's my second priority... which is kinda very intimately related to the first one, I reckon. Last time I checked (like a year ago) I was leaning towards the Sheerwood Newcastle R-972 because of Trinnov.
3: Reliability, since I'm taking these to Brazil the warranty won't help me, so I gotta keep away from products that often have to go to the doctor.
4: Nice connectivity and good menus/interface.

I don't care much for networking, and a bunch of video processing feats cause it'll be pretty much running stuff from my PC and I expect my 440 bucks video card to be able to handle that! The 1080p upscaling is important tho, because of the fact I can't get 1080p/60 frames 3D I'll have to do 720p for 3D gaming, and I don't want my projector upscaling it, cause it'll do a stinky job.

Once again i want to reiterate - I'M NOT AFRAID OF USED, REFURBS OR OPEN BOX PRODUCTS. I am inclined on buying a used one so I could get the best value possible if the seller is trusty - and , at least here, ppl tend to be.

That's it, I guess the post got kinda big, sorry! Thanks and looking forward for some help!

Check the New York craigslist, should be some receivers there.

I don't live in NY, in fact, it's like 3000 miles away, so I can't recommend any stores around there, sorry.

Thanks, Gary. I bought my pair of CMT-340's from Craigslist, and it was completely via mail and e-mail, I trusted the guy and it worked out juuuust fine. I'm totally up for getting a receiver from Craigslist, buuuuuuuuuuut first I gotta decide on which model (or models) I'm looking for.

I've read about 3312CI, they said good things about it, especially it's Custom Install features! The 2311CI I must say I'm not really familiar. The prices are great, tho!

Well, there and back again...

and the winner is...................

ME!!!!!

I bought a Denon 3313CI for just $317 tax included! It was an open box in such new conditions, all the items were still sealed (cables, remote, Audigy and all), I'm not even sure the previous owner even opened it!!!

I'm so happy, thanks for the advice on checking Best Buy!

PS: the receipt said it was a 3312 lol

Yup, it was on the Best Buy at the 34th Street if I'm not mistaken...

There was also on another Best Buy a 3312 CI for 15 bucks more, but this one was lacking everything except the receiver itself.
