Yay or Nay: Optoma HD65 to Benq w1070 ??? need opinions?

Hey Guys,

I've been using my first (and only) projector HD65 720p (refurbished PJ) for the last 4 years (only 800hrs bulb and still going strong). I have it in the basement. and I shoot it from 13’ onto 110" fixed DIY frame (4" mdf rapped in black velvet). I’ve used black widow paint to paint the screen. Overall I love the projector except the obvious weak contrast.

Mostly I watch 720P HDTV (sports / tv shows) and sometimes movies from bluray player. I might play a PC game or two from my htpc (running win7) and I don’t care about 3D… Also I watch NHL Gamecenter which is not even full 720P.

- Will I see an overall PQ improvement from HD65?
- Is the contrast “noticeably” better on 1070W?

If I was "upgrading" I’m thinking about taking apart my 110” fixed screen and building a new 130” or bigger fixed screen if I can.

Based on my needs/uses do you guys think I should buy 1070W (or something similar) or I should just buy new bulb (if time comes) and enjoy my current HD65? Would this upgrade be worth it?

I do appreciate any input/comments etc…

TIA

Yay for the bluray movies, and it is probably sharper.
