Couple questions while I wait for my items to be shipped.

So, after reading a ton, I decided to get an ivy bridge i3 and a gigabyte b75 motherboard as per assassins advice on the blog.

I decided to bite the bullet and get an SSD drive as well.

When I get all these things ready to install, I have these questions:

1.) Will I need to do the preinstall disk that gigabyte had up for ahci?

1a.) Do I need to enable ahci in bios?

2.) What will I need to do to make sure the 29/59 bug doesn't effect me?

I'm not sure what you mean for question 1, but yes, ACHI should be enabled in your bios if you're using an SSD.

1.) Most likely not. You need to plug the SSD into a Sata-3 6Gb/s port. If your motherboard has more than one controller, use the ones attached to the Intel chipset. If Windows needs your Gigabyte disc, it will ask you for it.

1a.) Most motherboards have AHCI as a default now days, but check it first before installing anything.

2) 29/59 bug only really comes into play with cablecard tuners on a small amount of channels. Turning off adaptive contrast on your drivers helps some, but doesn't completely fix the problem.

3) don't add any hard drives until after windows is installed on the ssd
