Well I hope for some exciting news. I have a new htpc build that just needs some apps installed, so it would be nice to know if there is something worth waiting on.
Seeing as how we are all throwing speculation.... I would really love if they:
Build a standalone Windows 8 App that included the video playback engine of MPC-HC with full graphical overlays for the video side, and the playback engine of Foobar2k for the audio engine. Throw in a room correction capability, graphical 2 way remote via smartphone/tablet functionality, and the option of a seamless client server setup.

Just a few more hours. You guys have made some great points. Many of the features you guys have been speculating may be available from day one. But, keep in mind... MB2 started out small and worked its way up to the great MCE plugin we know today. Now that MCE is more or less unsupported... Its time to UNLEASH Media Browser!!
If MSFT would just make the Guide/LiveTV and playback available directly out of the Win8 GUI instead of making you use Media Center, MB3 plus a Win8 machine would be absolutely amazing.
Hmm, interesting. Sounds an awful lot like Plex. I wonder what the advantages are. The reason to use Media Browser for me was always because it was integrated into WMC. This sounds like a standalone app.

I thought the same thing too.
I think that it has plex-like features though. The centralized server, the streaming and transcoding to devices...but the quality for main HTPC's will be higher than trans coding that plex does.
From what I have read it is a stand alone app but WMC integration will be available. Netflix Super HD plugin as well I hope?
There's no way Media Browser can officially integrate Netflix. You'll have to use the Windows 8 app for that.

Plex does not transcode to HTPCs unless you want it to. Video quality is the exact same as in XBMC.
