Media Browser 3 is coming!! - Page 38

The Live TV screenshot in the article looks very promising. I'm wondering if it will be incorporated on the server side or the client side. That would enable me to do away with WMC completely as a front end once all is said and done.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

It's coming very soon. Also, join our linux and OS X test groups:

Hi Luke,

Does the Linux test group mean a "native" server app for Synology nas products is being developed? You mentioned something about "mono" before but I dont really know what "mono" means in this case.

Keep up the awesome work!

Go to "browse library" and under media folders pick the section that has the movies you want to mark as watched. There should be a check mark next to the thumbs up and thumbs down icons for each title. If you click a grey check it will turn it red marking that title watched. If the check is red you can click it and turn it grey for unwatched.

Yes we'll have native apps.

Guys,

We have a new app release. We're now in the Chrome web store:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/media-browser-3-status/egofcbleniceaoleohckegkeepennpcn

It's a browser extension that will give you MB Server notifications, and will probably soon be enhanced to add remote control features;.

Any chance of chromecast? Being able to chromecast from an ipad would be pretty sweet!

Just finished watching Oz in 3d with mbt without a hickup. Great stuff for something that isn't even beta.

Thank you so much!!!

So I'm thinking about making the jump to Media Browser 3.

After spending countless hours customizing my current MediaBrowser set up, I'm a little hesitant on going through the same process to get it to look and feel the same.

Is it possible to go through this upgrade in the background so I can continue to use my current set up until the finished product is complete?

If memory serves correct the MB3 server installation will remove the MB2 installation.

So you won't be able to without installing and configuring on a different system.

Will i need to buy a new copy of all my plugins?

That's a bit of apples to oranges because the plugins are different and built new from the ground up. You could install the server by itself, play with the web client and maybe a mobile client or two all without affecting MB2. It's only when you install Media Browser classic that you will not be able to have that on the same machine as MB2.
can i just copy over my cache, Imagecache, IBN and startup folders over to the new MediaBroswer-Classic folder?
No, if you did that they would not be utilized. IBN belongs with the server app.
Interesting... Would you be able to point me in the direction of a guide I could use to set it up?

I'm already getting a bit frustrated.

I've downloaded and installed the MB Server onto my HTPC.

After the initial configuration of the server I downloaded and installed MBC. I was prepared to completely reconfigure my setup, however I was not prepared to run into the amount of problems that I have thus far.

I can't seem run MBC for more than a few minutes before I get "Media Browser 3 is not responding" error.
When it does work, it is miserably slow.

I've run MB2 on my HTPC for the past 2 years or so with no problem.

Have the system requirements changed?

Does running the server on the same computer as MBC cause issues?
System requirements have not changed, and running it on the same machine is perfectly fine. We have quite a few users doing that. Can you post about this in our forums? We have quite a few people who can give you help:

If I had to guess it is probably leftover Mb2 components causing a problem. In MB2 some themes actually placed assemblies into windows\ehome. I believe MBC tries to remove those files but it not always successful. That would be my guess as a possible problem.
I had to completely remove mb2 to get mb3 to run properly.
Does the new install of MBC not remove MB2? What's the best process to completely remove MB2?

I thought it may be theme related so I removed chocolate and tried again. Same problem. Within 60 seconds of opening MBC it crashes.

How were you navigating? Keyboard? Remote?

Were you doing anything when it crashed, like scrolling?
I have noticed MB-C crashes a lot when scrolling on every system I have it installed on.

Scrolling with the keyboard frequently crashes MBC in my experience. But not so much with the remote control. I think the hold-down repeat rate is lower with the remote control than with the keyboard.
Its probably been discussed but does Media Browser 3 support 3D playback?

Interesting, I use a universal paired with flirc. The flirc firmware registers as an HID keyboard, and it uses the repeat rate that you specify for the keyboard within windows. I've never tried to find this option for the real ehome remotes, I'm sure it's in the same place. If it's just the rate then it's an easy tweak

I have no idea if it is the repeat rate, that was just speculation on my part. But definitely keyboard scrolling crashes MBC frequently and my remote scrolling does not.

Guys I'm really pleased with the growth of our project and I think you'll enjoy being a part of it if you'd like, whether you're a user or potential developer. Just look at the flurry of activity over the past three days:

I am trying to setup anime collection. I installed the Anime plugin but I do not see the option to use it when editing my metadata. Also only certain anime shows that I have give me the option to enter information on the 'External ID' field so I can manually input the information. I do not mind entering the data manually but trying to determine why it is not picking up some of my files.

For example Claymore, Samurai 7, Redline, Naruto, Hajime No Ippo and a couple of others. These all have 'Season' folders within each show.

A new theme has been released for Media Browser Classic, Square, from Soultaker, the developer of the popular Neo and Pearl themes.
