Why not launch MPC with MBC?

But that's a good question. I guess the benefits would be having overlays...

Either way I am using MPC and it works really well. In fact the remote functionality works with MPC which was a nice little surprise. I can hit play/pause, stop, start from scene, etc from my laptop while on the server's page.

No actually, you're exactly right. If all you want to do is watch the movie, to receive the benefits of madvr i would just use a standalone player like mpc. But if you want to actually open it in mbt so that you can start browsing from that location, that could be possible.

I already use MPC-HC/madVR/LAV as an external player in MB3.2.6 right now. I like the idea of a native player in MBT but was wondering what player MBC is using and if it can use MBT's player when available if it doesn't use it already.

Thank God Charter never changes my dynamic IP address! It has been the same for over 3 years since I went back to them from internet service after getting fed up with Uverse's slow speeds. I have a static IP at a dynamic IP price.

In the Android app I have setup an onsite/offsite address. The offsite is for, well, 3g/4g and off site wifi.

BINGO! I'll do that today, when I am remoted into my PC from work at lunchtime!

Okay, I have forwarded port 8945 (default Web Socket Port Number) for the local IP address of the PC where MB Server is installed. I tried both TCP and UDP and put the public address and port 8945 in the MB android app on my phone. It is not connecting. Did I do this right?

Try 8096 that's the default. I don't know what 8945 is for but I do recognize it...

That did it! I suppose I should have tried that before asking but there you have it.

Thanks!

I'm using it now but the playback is a bit choppy over 4gLTE with a decently strong signal compared to Plex on android. It comes and goes. When I was using it last night via WiFi on my local network it ran great but I didn't play it that long.

You can adjust cellular playback bit rate in the android client's config. Try maybe playing with that.

Honestly I haven't played too much with off site usage. Some users have reported that it works great some initially had issues but they seem to have worked them out just from reading posts over at the MB forums.

I had it set for 1.8Mbps on MBandroid and it is at 3Mbps on Plex. Plex works perfectly. MBandroid stumbles and fumbles. Same movie, same phone in the same location on my desk at work. It is beta so there is probably a bit of work to do. Is there a bug tracker I should use?

Is this via 3G/4G ??

Do you have Plex server and MB3 server running on the same PC ??

4g/LTE in downtown LA. Pretty strong signal..

Yes I do have both servers running on the same PC. I am not sure why that would be a problem as they are independent of one another.

Thanks. I will do that later today.

BTW, this is a Galaxy S4 so I'm pretty sure it is not an issue with the phone.

Yep that phone is plenty good.

Okay. MB3android is still being a little finicky in playback. Sometimes it starts and stops while playing.

I also installed MBC on my PC where the MB server is hosted. When I load it up in WMC using Diamond Theme, I get Movies and Movie Genres with both showing that there is nothing in the library. When I go into Movies and it sure enough it is blank but when I go into Movie Genres and there's several sorted Genre's. With several hundred movies this is convenient so I'm thinking a few things..

1. How to get the movies to show in the Movie Library?

2. How to get Genre Folder Artwork and/or Icons?

3. If I wanted to remove the Movie Library and just have the Movie Genre Library, is there a setting to do that?

I still haven't rolled this to my main HTPC because I want to get this sorted out first.

I assume you got all this figured out ? Or did you give up ?
It is a bug that I reported to the MB3 team. Luke is looking into it and know it exists.

I really would like to try MB3 Theater. How much longer? frown.gif Give me a pre-pre-alpha for all I care. I just want to see how it stacks up to XBMC.

I'm looking forward to trying out MBT as well. I've held out on installing MPC-HC on all of my HTPC's until MBT comes out to test. Should be out soon....good things comes to those who wait smile.gif

Soon guys... it's looking good from what I see over at the MB3 forums

Is MB3 Classic ready for prime-time?
Defintely is - been running it for a few months now (albeit on a simple server/1 client basis)- with no issues at all, using either WMC or an external mpc-hc set-up.
Sweet, then I will give it a go. I have no need or desire to watch a movie on a PC when I own a projector (and no other TVs in the house), so MB Classic is my preferred program. smile.gif
