Awesome news, Luke!

I am curious about the specifics of this feature. Will this work with the following:

A Silicon Dust HD Homerun networked OTA HD tuner?

An internal PCIe tuner, like a Hauppauge WIN-TV HR-2250?

A USB-attached OTA tuner?

An internal Ceton InfinitV-4 / InfiniTV-6 units? (with a Cablecard)

A networked Ceton InfiniTV-6 ETH? (with a Cablecard)

Thanks for any further details you can provide.

Mark

We will be using existing back-end products like next pvr and argus. We plan to support multiple but will begin with next pvr. So all need to do is set that up and then tell MB3 where it is and you'll be good to go. So yes, when it comes to copy protected content, we will have the same limitations as all other non-wmc products.

Being able to hook into a tuner in MB3 using the android client is pretty awesome even if it has those limitations. Will this work with dynamic tuner sharing with Silicon Dust tuners so that WMC can still get one for Copy Protected content?

Darn it is terrible that you are unable to access copy-protected content. I thought MBT was going to hook into WMC so you can access liveTV. Is this possibly in the works?

Don't you just love DRM?

The only way that is going to happen is with proper licensing which requires extortion, er fees, be paid to allow it. MB3 mobile apps and clients would have to cost money for the apps.

You should talk to DVBlogic about integrating with their DVBlink Server. Should be simple to tap into their API and this would be a great way for MBT to completely replace WMC for us European users (and ATSC is supported too).

I agree it is very annoying. Wish we had FIOS in my area.

Currently I use remotepotato to remotely access my media and setup my dvr which wasn't free to buy and I still can't access my recorded shows cause of DRM frown.gif

Guess I am just stuck and forced to use WMC.

Even some Verizon FiOS channels are DRM'd - the premium channels like HBO have it.

I'll have to see if our live developer is up for the task of three back-ends. Right now he's starting with next pvr, then possibly argus. Of course if it's just an interface that has to be implemented. Perhaps dvblogic could be asked to build it.

I am litterally check this thread every hour to see if this gets released, i really want to try it. Its a pain ass to sync 3 or more xbmc instances...

I'm going to put it up next weekend as technical preview but I would hardly call it released at that point. It has a small feature set but what it has is fairly stable. You should be able to enjoy it if you can accept what it has and also does not yet have. If you can't, then lucky for you we've got three other living room clients to keep you busy in the meantime.

Are we talking about MBT?

I took it as LiveTV on the the clients.
either way should prove to be great
No I mean MBT. Live tv is still in progress. It will first be added to the server & web client, then will sprinkle out to all the other clients. But the wait for mbt has been long enough so next weekend i'm just going to put it out there, and if you're ok with using it as it grows then you probably enjoy being a part of it.

fantastic. I have recently made the switch to 3 and its an impressive feat you guys have pulled off. Big KUDOS to all of you that worked so hard to pull it off. MBT should put this over the top.

The new server release features manual image downloading within the metadata editing area. Now you can hand-pick your images based on how they look, resolution, language, user votes, etc. What's cool about this is that it brings all possible sources together into one interface, such as the movie db, tvdb, fanart, etc. Games are even supported. All image types can be downloaded - poster, backdrop, logo, art, disc, thumb, banner, screenshot, box, cartridge, etc.

Awesome! I was looking forward to this feature!

We've upgraded Android to release candidate status. Please help out by submitting issues and feedback as we get it ready for store submission:

Is there a specific place to find the latest versions, or does the "download" web page always install latest release via it's one-click installer?

(If so, I think it would be infitnitely better to provide a download page with standalone installers you can save and run later, and have several iterations of releases available as well - but that's just the way I like to be able to do things)
Where's that link to setting up folder images again?

Maybe check here.

This looks awesome, does it still support clients, there was talk a while back about possibly not supporting clients. Since there is a server component, does it support direct VOB rips now as well?

Thanks, great job!
What do you mean about supporting clients?

We support dvd folders rips for clients who are able to play them back directly without transcoding (generally htpc clients). When transcoding is needed, we try our best to do it, but it will fail on some titles, despite working well on others.

Which just says if you're interested in downloading it, go to the (link that redirects to the MB3 download webpage)

It also says that there are release and beta versions, but doesn;t say which ones the main downloa dpage offers, or how to get any of the others!

Perhaps the one-click installer lets you choose?

It's this sort of lack of control I dislike.
