For that price range, the Polk R300 is what I would get. They are around $100 each.

For rears, get the R150, which are about $120 per pair.

The CSR is the matching center speaker, for about $80.

Presumably, at this point, every reasonable (and some unreasonable) pair of sub $200 speakers on the market will be suggested by their proponents.

Along with some people suggesting speakers past your budget, then a discussion of used; and in the end you'll have no more information that you did in the beginning and have to go listen and make a choice.

Congratulations on your decision (whatever it happens to be when you make it). I'm sure you will enjoy them.

What is the budget for the rears?

Why do people always think they need floorstanders when they are on extremely tight budgets? Why not bookshelf/monitors in this range? In my opinion you are going to get a better speaker with a tight budget over a floor stander.

But that's me.. when your budget rises then I guess it's a better argument as room size, music vs HT blah blah blah...
Heck, I use mointors and a great sub and I am thrilled. And my budget was not confined and I had options. The monitors still won out over many many tower contenders (with REL sub).

For $500 or less I would buy these but once again you have to do what you think is best.

Are these the best in the Focal line, no of course not but I certainly would entertain them for under $500. And Focal is totally respected speaker mfg.

Though shall not fear bookshelf/monitor biggrin.gif and this is just my thoughts and opinion. You want towers and think that is best for you then by all means go that direction.

Good Luck

And this is okay that you are suggesting but for new folks it should be a disclaimer that this site is B stock or slightly dinged goods or returns. Is it not? He may not understand that.

Those Bostons are brand new in box with a huge discount on the white speaker finish.
