Is this a move up or a move lateral?

I have been enjoying my Klipsch quintet iii for some time now in my small (12x9) home theater/listening room....but I'm think of purchasing the Klipsch rvx-42 for my L R and C....is this a significant move up or a small incremental move ? Comments appreciated. Thanks

Personally, I would keep the center and satellite speakers you have, and buy some better front speakers. The RVX-42 would be a minimal improvement; not worth the trouble IMO.

90% of what is wrong now is that the front speakers are way too small. They should go down to below 80 Hz, and the ones you have do not. The center and satellites only need to go down to 120 Hz or so and the ones you have will be OK.

A pair of the Klipsch KB-15 Icon speakers would be my recommendation.

A teensy move up; not worth the trouble IMO.

And if you did it; just two. They are the wrong thing for a canter speaker.

They only go down to about 100 Hz; that is NOT low enough for front speakers.

You need something that goes well below 80 Hz, so you can croos over to the sub at 80.

Sorry commsysman eek.gif

It doesn't matter how many times you say this...

John, I can't speak to the specific speakers you mention as i don't know them well enough; perhaps you should ask that Klipsch specific question in the Klipsch thread for more answers.

If you do decide to do an upgrade, replace the front 3 first (you can keep the sats as surrounds) but make sure that the three all timbre match and that they ALL can reproduce the signals that the movie and music producers intended to be sent to them.

If you like the klipsch and depending on your budget for with a set of the RFII bookshelf speakers and one the matching centers. They all share the same tweeter so all sound pretty much alike.

There are some differences in the mid range sound as you go up in woofer size though.
