I am doing a surround sound system in my family room that is about to go to the sheetrock phase. The room is 25'x20'. And is has 15' gambriel ceiling. My Tv is a 55" Samsung LED, which has speakers in the back... horrible sound. This room will be the primary TV/Movie watching room for my family and kids. What would y'all recommend for this type of set up? 5.1, 7.1? which receiver, what speakers. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I would love to help you out. But need one more piece of info first, What is your budget?

With that size room you could do 7.1 or 7.2. If you want an HTiB and are willing to spend $700 check out the Onkyo 9400THX on newegg.com. If you will be able to spend more than $1k then you could look into buying a receiver and seperate speakers from a different company and a good or decent sub or 2.

Thanks for the reply! I was wanting to spend less that $1,500. I am looking for best bang for my buck. And i think i would be happy with just 1 subwoofer. Thanks for your help!

Also, I was hoping to potentially inset the speakers into the wall so they would be somewhat discreat.
