Ok i been big in the car audio world for a good 2years just finished my wagon build last year and im really happy with it and wanted to move on to a ht project.
I been researching and looking over ideas of how im going to build a ht room 100% FOR MOVIES nothing else.
Room dimensions 11x11 with real wood floor. ONLY thing thats going to be in the room is a couch and all the ht equipment.
Already have the sub stage accomplished so far going to run two 18inch SI or two 18inch obsidian's havent pulled the trigger on either one yet on the fence with them so far . Going to run a europower ep4000 on them with a inline voltage converter. already have a box for the 18's its a older box that i used for two 18inch sound solutions audio Xcons. 6.5cubes net after port tuned at 31hz thats per chamber double thick 1.5inchs all around its divided in the middle also. Plan was to seal the port or extend the port to get a tuning of 20hz going to test it out sealed if i like the output of it
I have plenty of bass just need some speakers to play 80hz++++ so many on the market idk where to start. i was looking into bookshelfs since i dont need any more low end extension. Also going to build my own speaker stands try to give the room some ht look and just right height for for the best sound for the listener.
The Choice's i been looking over are
HTD lvl3 Bookshelfs Lvl 3 center with level 2 surrounds, Figured surrounds dont realy need to be anything super powerful as long as they have the same blending of sound as the front and center speakers
HSU 5.0 package, looks really nice only thing i dont like is they use the same bookshelfs for surround and i think thats a little overkill for that area kind of a waste since you'll never use them that much.
Klipsch Reference 5.0 package with the double sided surrounds. I like the the higher efficiency but the woofers are just to small and i dont believe it would produce that big of a sound.
Been looking at used speakers but nothing good so far either really expensive high end stuff or cheap o crap.....but open minded for used it doesn't bother me one bit
Thats all i really seen that caught my eye for my budget and needs. Already have the cash set aside for the sub stage, and tv going for a simple good picture 42inch no 3d or smart tv just something basic.
Receiver is a old insignia IS-HC040917 6.1 from along time ago(Really crappy i know lol never been used till two weeks ago) going use it for now till i rack up some more cash for a better quality reciever. Waiting for my sundown 8's sell and my mb quart 4channel before i pull the trigger on one but 7.1 is what im going for always like the extra two channels for a upgrade in the future
Picture of the box. In process of repainting it glossy black, its just been a little too cold to paint outside lately.
Soooooo yeah alot of bass just need some sound to keep up with it.
