Hi,

I've been a user of AMX's R-series remotes for a few years, and, as my current R-2 is failing, I'm trying to figure out what I want to replace it with. My top choice right now is the Crestron MLX-3, but I just discovered that the MLX-2 has just about the same button set. Since the 2 is a discontinued model, I can get it for less than $100, vs $250 or more for the 3. I get that the 3 is a lot more flashy/sexy/spiffy than the 2, but I'll take simple reliability over a battery sucking color display any day...

So my questions are as follows, for those of you who have experience with both:
Battery life comparison.
The MLX-3 boasts "Instant On". Is that true in the real world?
The MLX-2 does not claim "instant on". What is the wait time before a button command goes through?
Are there other big advantages/disadvantages to either remote that won't show up in the descriptions?

About me:
I'm an AMX & Crestron programmer, so I do know that an AMX remote can't simply be swapped for a Crestron if you don't have the right hardware. cool.gif I live in the commercial world, and we just don't use handheld remotes there.

Thanks in advance!
