What movie and music would you recommend for demoing speakers?

The answer to your question is; use whatever you are going to listen to frequently.

The other answer is; demo them in your own home with your own equipment, because they will sound totally different in the store.

After years of experience, I have come to the conclusion that listening in the store, with their gear connected, only gives you about 40% of the picture.

Since I am doing the same thing...here is my 2 cents.

Get music you know well from several differnt types: Rock, Pop, Vocals

Get movies with allot of sound effects ...there are threads to this but frankly most of these are action movies and most action movies have a few scenes you can choose from. I picked Transforms the first scene.

There is one thing I discovered... Listening to speakers is just like Buying a new home. Listen ...try to pick out the differances between speakers and try to figure out what trade off your willing to live with BUT

Here is a HUGE BUTT ..er But... Don't buy a home where when you walk into it..with in the first 30 seconds your not in love with it.

Same with speakers. You will know when you found the right ones because those songs you just heard 50x that day..and are getting sick of even though you love them...will suddenly put a smile on your face again. You will notice you are starting to grin like you had a few too many beers.

Dem there are the speakers you want. Now you may notice later that ..hey bass is a little low, or treble is a little exaggerated or whatever! BUT in the end if it put the smile on your face that is what you want. Don't settle for anything less because you will be sorry.
