Follow the instructions Doctego just provided, which is a more detailed version of what we explained earlier. Make sure your TV input source is set to the HDMI port where you connected the soundbar. With the sat receiver connected directly to the soundbar it's hard to imagine it isn't working.
Why did you buy optical cable? There should be no need to connect digital audio from the TV to the soundbar since you won't have any source devices connected to the TV. Also, since your TV is, apparently, a Sharp, it uses digital coax not digital optical. To make that type of connection from TV to soundbar, you'd need both type of cable plus a coax to toslink converter.
