sync remote with TV

In the center-top area of the remote, there are some TV controls (power, A/V, volume). In the owner's manual, it says those work with a Panasonic TV.

The problem is, I have a Sony TV. Is there any way to sync the remote with my non-Panasonic TV?

Not much to go on. I assume this is for a recent model Panasonic disc player. If so, there is no way to use the remote with anything but Panasonic. You should consider getting a universal remote.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. This is for the DMP-BDT220 Blu-Ray player. It seems like there should be a way to sync the Panasonic remote with my TV, but if not I'll just working with separate remotes (or a universal, like your suggested).

We have talked about this in the player thread. The current Panasonic remotes only control Panasonic TVs.

They removed that ability in 2012, probably to cut costs. So what you're asking is impossible. If you really like the Panasonic remote, get a 2011 or earlier model from Panasonic parts site. It will work a sony tv, among others. IMO your money is better spent on a universal. They start around $15.
