Hello,

I am new to AVS...We are looking at the Mid level whole home audio but my wife works at Best Buy and canb get speakers for significantly cheaper that HTD speakers. I am not sure it would make a difference but thought I would ask. Anyone have the system with different manufacturer speakers or have any thoughts on it?

That's awesome she works in best buy and I think you're a lucky person to have that discount! I have spend a lot of time with MartinLogan ElectroMotion ESL and B&W CM9 speakers that sound amazing if they fit in your budget at all? if not look at B&W 683's or Definitive Technology BP-8060ST. Does she work at a Magnolia location? if so go audition some of those speakers, if you feel you can do better give us a budget and how big you want the system as well as how big the room is.

Thanks for the reply! We are looking at a 5.1 surround for the living room as well as putting audio in the kitchen and office on the main floor and master bedroom/bathroom and a second bedroom upstairs and possibly the hallway. Most likely we want all in-wall speakers. I was not sure if THD configured their systems so that you needed their speakers, if thats even possible, or if people purchased the amp/controller/wall keypads and used other speaker brands.

My wife works at the MOA BB which has Magnolia, and we are in the middle of a new construction build and have open walls still in case that makes a difference inthe suggestions I get. Our budget on speakers is approx $1,000.00. which is not much but....We are looking at Yamaha, SpeakerCraft and Polk as they are approx 75% off with her discount so you can get alot for that!

wow that might be a lot of speakers in your future, the only one I kind of know for in-wall and I hope more people can chime in on this is Polk Audio - RC85i 8" and I think there is a sell on them right now at BB so many take a look at those and see if that might be something you might consider.

For the floor speaker or the in wall? eitherway I love Martin Logan stuff and I hope if you go that way it doesn't let you down!
