Is the black level noticeably better on the GT50 than the D7000/E7000?

I've owned a D7000 for 18 months. It broke and I need to replace it. I've enjoyed everything about it, but I was never completely happy with the black level, despite doing a fair amount of playing around with the configuration settings and calibration discs. I know the E7000 supposedly has a 10% better black level than a D7000, and doesn't lose the black level in 24p/96hz playback anymore.

I don't have any numbers to compare my D7000 to a GT50, so I was wondering...after initial break-in, how much of a black level improvement could I expect going from the D7000 that I'm used to, to the GT50? The VT50 is a price jump so I'm ruling it out and I'm only deciding between an E7000 and a GT50 as the replacement. Thanks for any info that you have!

Yes, the Panny's have better black levels than the Sammy's. And if my plasma failed after 18 months, I would switch brands. But that's me.

Not only better blacks but the GT50 can get much brighter than the e7000

I can't blame my D7000. It worked well until a kid threw a ball at it. smile.gif

I briefly had a 64D8000 and moved to a Panasonic 65ST30 in late 2011 and the improvement in blacks could be seen.....and they are only better on the GT50.

I'm still in the return period for my E7000, which is a buzzer. A Samsung tech just came out and said that the buzzing is normal and they won't fix it.

I'm seriously considering trading it in for a GT50...the only thing holding me back is that I'm concerned about IR.
