The prices on those drives is insane... It took me a while to get it right, but now I just buy a drive and RTV patch it myself, if I can do it most anyone should be able to...

yeah, but it's the whole "FIND a suitable drive" that's getting to be impossible.

Seagate db35.5 series are SATA, Replays need old-school PATA drives.

Yes the Seagate DB35.3 ATA/100 drives are great, but I don't think they've been made in quite some time. I think at this stage of the game, it will be difficult to find a NEW drive that will work in a 5000/5500 series RTV. Used / Refurbed.... probably plentiful.

there all over ebay all sizes new and used and refurb---im using 10 750g i got last year in 8 replays and 2 in my xp comp that hasa 2tb sata hdd as well. there are many 100 120 and 160 hdd added on their home page as soon as i log on---d

i also had two replays with WD hdds in them thät i replaced with the 750s that were 80s. they work well i just wanted space to theme rec lots of movies. model wd8000bb-55jkao

its a good idea, at first i used weaknees but its well worth and fun to learn to do it yourself. also u still have to net connect to get the latest os and if rtv mothership goes down ull be learning anyway---d
