In case you did not know it, previously viewed Blu-Rays are available for purchase for $5 at most Redbox kiosks...a great deal IMHO!

The only problem is that many of the titles stocked in redbox machines are gimped versions - no lossless audio, no extended versions, no extras, etc. No thanks.

Thanks Rich..I'll pick up a couple and take a look. The loss of Lossless audio would be a deal breaker....

for example:
"Expendables 2" - straight lossy dolby digital audio
"Killer Joe" - also lossy dolby digital, and the "censored to get a R rating" version only.
Extras are frequently removed.
If the Redbox website provided info letting us know a title has been downgraded for rental, at least a person could make an informed decision before buying or renting.
But your only hope for that is if a customer included that info in a review on the Redbox site.
For a $1.50 rental, I guess it's ok - but for a purchase I want the full retail title.

There is also the issue of condition of the disc to consider. I keep my video collection in pristine condition. Some blu-rays out of the machine are in good shape - but others seem to have gotten mixed in with the popcorn or soda at some point . . .
