Best value, Denon AVR-2113CI or AVR-2313CI? VOTE Please!

Do you need the 2nd HDMI output? I think thats the main difference between 2113 and 2313.

As noted in the Denon AVR-XX13 Owner's thread linked in my sig, unless you need the additional features offered on the 2313CI (review post #2 of that thread for a comparison), the 2113CI is likely the best buy. Refer to my post in the Great Deals forum to save some $$ on your 2113CI purchase.

I would also like to know as my Onkyo TX-SR707 has developed sound problems. I would like to get a receiver with Audyssey DSX wide to replace it.

Actually if you want to get the best sound quality from your speakers, I'd consider the Pioneer SC-1222K for $529. It is in the same price range and delivers better sound than those Denon. I had a Marantz before and there is a huge difference.

There is a huge difference from the Pioneer SC-1222 and Marantz? Which one? You first mentioned the Denon and said the Marantz was a huge difference. . Did you actually try the Denon too? Which model?

I had a Marantz SR6003, and that was a huge improvement to my previous Onkyo TX-SR805 which was a better room heater than AV receiver. The SC-1222K brought new life to my speakers 3 months ago. I couldn't believe that a switched amplification stage (AKA Digital amplifier) could make such a difference! There are many users in the SC-1222K threads saying that it is better than some Denon, like javigonx who says that it is better than his other Denon 3311. The Pioneer has the Advanced MCACC that calibrates the listening environment in order to make it as close as possible to a THX room, far better than Audyssey MultEQ XT. It does a good job and it even allows you to tune up all the parameters to your preference. After discovering the Adv. MCACC I realized that Audyssey was like walking with the shoe laces tied together.

your candidate Denon AVR2313 is similar to the Marantz SR5007. Denon and Marantz are basically the same amplifier, both are brands of the same owner, D&M Holdings Inc. and both brands shares engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and distribution resources. Both amplifiers have a THD of 0.08% at 100W, really good for a traditional class AB amplifier but nothing compared to the Pioneer SC-1222K. It is a class D3 amplifier and features a THD of 0.008% at 100W, 10 times less than the other contenders. That is a whole order of magnitude that leaves the Marantz and Denon in the dust regarding sound fidelity.

The maximum real output power of the SC-1222K in multichannel mode @ 8ohm, 600W, can never be reached by the Marantz because the efficiency of a class AB amplifier near the non linear operation point is far from 100%. The SC-1222K can deliver 190 W/ch with 4 ohms speakers while still running cold. Yes, the SC-1222K is also 4ohm certified so it opens the door to another level of speakers.

I am sorry, but those amplifiers are far behind the SC-1222K in sound quality and technology. It is up to you, the three amplifiers are good and you won't be disappointed by any of them, but IMHO the SC-1222K is by far the best from the sound quality point of view within your price range.

Go with the pioneer if you want to let the computer set up your sound. I agree that the pioneer MCACC works better than Audessey.

But if you have a Db meter, even a free app for your smartphone, and actually measure your speaker distances and equalize your channel settings, the Denon / Marantz will be crisper, cleaner and more precise. I think the Denon can also handle speakers that need a little more power to preform well compared to the Pioneer. So if you have strong speakers stick with Denon or the Marantz.

Basis of this is my buddy has Energy vertias and I have PA RtiA7's. rooms are similar in size, and speakers are on a level playing field. His Pioneer elite lacks that sound that makes you go hmmm.

To edit: I am running a 2313ci. I would have gone with the 2113 had I not needed the extra HDMI output.

Thumbs up for the Pioneer. My Onkyo sound died so reading this and other posts I decided to pick up the SC-1222-K from Newegg on sale. I am really impressed as it brought my Polk Monitor 70's to life. I was never happy with the Onkyo when used for music.

This is a good receiver. Heck even my wife commented on how good the music sounded and I have not even calibrated it yet.

Also this receiver runs cool as a cucumber. My Onkyo TX-SR707 was super hot and probably what shortened its life span.
