Any further action suggested for Panasonic DMR-EH55

Have a Panasonic DMR-EH55.

1) It recently failed giving HDDERR message. (That's the case where DVD drive opens on power up. Called case b in the service manual.)

2) Got firmware from local (Australian) Panasonic.

3) Burned to CD. (Actually burned 4 times as problems, see below. Twice each on two machines, using 9660.)

4) On attempting to restart got NO FVU and NG DISC messages. (All discs burned.)

(I presume the last two error messages indicate that the DVD drive is the problem not the HDD. Did open DVD. Not particularly dirty but cleaned disc holding mechanism.)

Is there anything else I can do for this machine? (That has a good chance of fixing it.)

Thanks.

The NO FVU message means that the fie firmware in your machine matches or is newer than the firmware that you are attemptng to load. It means, I think, NO Firmware Verion for Update.

It sounds like the HDD in your EH55 has failed and must be replaced, THEN try the firmware load disk.

Thanks for that. I assumed the message meant that the DVD (and probably the HDD too) were defective.

(I wish I could find a place where the exception messages were adequately explained!)

That points me to what to do next.
