Beginner need help buying Samsung 46" LED-TV UE46EH5005. Is it suitable for gaming?

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive TV for gaming purposes with console and PC.

Is the Samsung 46" LED-TV UE46EH5005 suitable?

My main concerns are:

  • input lag
  • clear motion rate? (does it even do anything? can I turn it off?)



It's basically this TV:

It says it is 50hz usually these come in 60 120 240 etc. If you are playing fast motion/action games then you may notice some lag. I would keep looking if I was you. I think you can get a good deal on a tv that has at least 120hz. I do like samsung though and think that is a good choice.

50 is euro cycle standard , 60 is north american

I donot think you want faked 120 or 240 as it will greatly increase LAG TIME

ideally for gaming you want a monitor not a tv
if you must game on a tv try a plasma for lower lag times then LED/LCD

Monitors are expensive, and will not give me the same options with remote control, channels and so on. I'm surprised monitors have lower lag time,considering they are often for office work and such so don't need high refresh rates.

For pc gaming both tvs I have had I would say never held me back or my son back from being able to game properly. I have never had an image problems related to gaming at all and I never felt handcuffed by any input lag or whatever. Trust me tvs can be used for pc gaming and have it be an enjoyable experience. My son played TF2 for years on our Toshiba 32" 720p tv and it never held him back from kicking butt.
