I am relativly new to the the whole house media distribution thing and need some advice on a couple of things:
My Setup currently is as follows:
I have TVs in 4 places in the house I want to be able to watch ripped DVDs, as well as 2 different stereo setups where I want to stream music
Currently I have 1 PC with internal storage
- Windows Media Center 7
- XMBC plugin for WMC
- Media Center Master
- EventGhost
- MCE Controller
- MC Launcher
- WinLIRC
- MyMovies Plugin
- Samsung AllShare
- Media Browser
- Meda Center Studio
Media Creation and Viewing
- AnyDVD HD
- MakeMKV
- Haali Media Splitter
- Virtual CloneDrive
- Total Cinema Theater
- Media Player Classic - Home Cinema
TV/DVDs
- 3 Samsung Smart TVs, either 3D Plasma and LCD
- 1 Panasonic Plasma SmartTV
- 1 Mitsubishi NON-Smart TV
- 2 Samsung Smart 3D Blu Ray DVD players
- Sony Blu Ray DVD player
Now to my question, I need to work out the media storage and distribution to all these devices. I want 1 central location for it to be stored, and am not sure if a direct attached storage array to the PC is the best option, or a NAS device. Can anyone tell me what 1 over the other would be a better option?
thanks,
Jason
