I've had it hit and miss. Mostly a miss with both DLNA (which on this machine is not "real" DLNA) and AirPlay.

This is a decent receiver but the simple things that a $300 receiver can do it can't I am stuck with it now due to not doing my research and trying to get a good deal I let the fanboys convince me well I got what I deserved. If I had purchased this at the MSRP when it first came out I would be pissed, even my $99 apple TV shows the artwork when streaming via DLNA. rolleyes.gif but what is real DLNA compared to not real DLNA ?
Both volume overlay and album art (half of my collections work) via DLNA streaming works on my Pioneer SC-1522. Sounds like in order for Pioneer to justify the reason that it has a dozen different models for sale each year, they just randomly pick and choose features to be left out on certain models.
It all depends on what you are looking for. I wanted strong/clean power, the latest codecs, airplay, and IP control. And I payed a little extra for low heat (all my gear is in my closet). I didn't see a better reciever in the price range for me. To each his own.
By the way I have never seen a good front end for DLNA. Especially if you have thousands of songs (and we all do right?). Using apple Remote however works fairly well (but it does require a Mac or pc running iTunes).
Good luck!

I have a plasma... And I find it useless to have the TV on while listening to music. I turn it off since almost ask the rest of the info is available via the app. Except for the album art, but that is a big Meh in my book. I bought the receiver to listen to music. It also helps when watching movies Whig is a great time to have the TV on BTW :P

Looking forward to reading through all of these pages to find out about this receiver. I was so close to ordering the SC-1222-K from Newegg last night, but found that Costco deal and couldn't pass on it.

Did you buy the SC-1222-K for $599 or the SC-1522-K? Costco deal of $599.99 is for the SC-1522-K and not the SC-1222-K.

Hello 1222k owners,

I am putting together a new setup, and I have a few questions. I recently had an orb audio mod4/mod2 system with an uber 10 sub and a pioneer 1020k receiver. This system had treated me well for several years. Well, once you get something decent in audio, the upgrade bug eventually hits. Anyway, my plan, which started about a month ago, is to slowly piece together a big-boy system with some real punch as funds allow. So, the first thing I upgraded was my sub. Although I love the Uber 10, I upgraded to an SVS pb-1000. Next, I wanted to get a good deal on an amp. So, I picked up the pio 1222-k (receiving it next week). The next step, within the next year or so, is to get the front three speakers (I will add the surrounds later). I have been doing a lot of research as to what is better to match with a quality sub, bookshelf speakers or towers, and it seems to be a mixed bag of opinions. Anyway, I narrowed it down to two options to match with the 1222k and the pb-1000.

Option 1

B & W 684 Towers = 90db sensitivity, 25-150 power handling, 44hz-22khz +-3db FR, and SIZE 35.8H/ 7.8W/ 11.8D/ 40.1lbs
B & W htm61 Center = 90db sensitivity, 30-250 power handling, 38hz-22khz +-3db FR, and SIZE 7.8H/ 21.5W/ 13.4D/ 34lbs

Option 2

SVS Ultra Bookshelf Speakers = 87db sensitivity, 20-150 power handling, 45hz-32khz +-3db FR, and SIZE 14.9H/ 8.5W/ 10D/ 19lbs
SVS Ultra Center = 87db sensitivity, 20-225 power handling, 45hz -32khz +-3db FR, and SIZE 8H/ 22W/ 10D/ 31lbs

Both options seem to be reviewed generally well. I plan on using this setup for 80% TV watching and Blu rays and 20% music listening. As for cost, both of these options (after tax for B and W or speaker stands for the Ultras will cost about $1800-$1900, so price is a wash. So, which setup do you think would be better for my needs paired with the 1222k and the pb-1000? I also want to run these speakers and the eventual surrounds in a 5.1 setup not 7.1. I DO NOT want to buy an external amp because I want the receiver to be able to supply all the power to make these speakers shine. I listen at moderately loud levels at most -15db is about as loud as I'll ever crank it but usually low 20's. So, let me know if either of these speaker sets are too much for this receiver, and of course if the receiver will work with both, which is the better option? Thank you for any opinions! This forum has highly intelligent people when it comes to audio and video!

Someone please help me!!!!

Airplay. I have a wireless router that the receiver is connected to. Now if my macbook is wired into the router, then itunes recognizes the receiver. But if I unplug the macbook and just use the wireless, it won't recognize the receiver, even though it recognized the router! It's driving me crazy. How can I get my macbook to recognize the receiver WIRELESSLY though Airplay?

Do any devices show when you hit the airplay symbol on iTunes?

My guess is the wireless network you are connecting to is not the same as the wired. Are you sure you are not connected to your neighbors' network? Also many routers have guest wireless networks. These are not routed to the internal network.

I picked one up. I am going to do a side by side comparison with my denon 2113. The loser gets the living room. I am not sure what to expect from the MCACC calibration. I really like Audyssey; the sound, simplicity, etc. I hope it works well.

I am exited to hear my Klipsch RF-83 on the D3 amps. Really curious to see if the sc1222 will drive them better.

I have the 1522-k, and like a number of other people, I ended up having to tweak the bass after running mcacc... it's simple, and the process is covered in the 1522-k thread out here.

Excellent. Thanks for the advice for the 1522 thread for info. I have already begun sifting through the mcacc thread.

It looks like they added a HMDI input & HMDI output, and removed the RS-232. (personally, I need the RS232)

Old news. Both 1222 and 1522 have been replaced by 23's.

Just got shipping confirmation from newegg - hurray smile.gif

I wanted to order up my wiring/cables so I'm not anxiously waiting after the receiver and speakers get here. I'm gonna go with mono price stuff.

For the sub:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=2684&seq=1&format=2

12awg wire seems to be plenty for any length I will use. My question is about banana plugs. I'd like to use them for my speakers on the receiver end at least...but wanted to double check it will work with the sc-1222-k. Namely these ones
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=9436&seq=1&format=2

Thanks for any info...figure it can't hurt to ask smile.gif

I use these for some conections on this reciever. They work fine but some are a little loose. I now prefer direct connections with wires. For bare wires just be sure there are no loose strands.

I use those same banana plugs (and wiring) and they work great with my denon. Monoprice is awesome. My 1222 is in the mail but I assume the plugs will work just fine. I'll let you know.

I would not even go as high as 400 for a used one.

I use those exact same banana plugs and speaker wire with my 1222k, powering Mirage 790'sx2, MC-Si, and M-290'sx2 with zero issues. Speakers eat all the power up and it's LOUD AS HELL while remaining crystal clear. Enjoy!

Yeah I figured it would be no problem...just crossing my Ts ya know smile.gif

Can't wait to get everything...first 'real' HT I'm building. smile.gif
