Aliens: Colonial Marines

Didn't see any active thread about it. Surprised there isn't more talk about it considering it's about to come out..... finally!!! I remember hearing about this game being announced years and years and years ago. One of those games that had about two screenshots and then disappeared for 5 years. Lol!

So those that don't know, it's built off the same engine as Borderlands and also has drop in, drop out 4-player coop. Marafice Eye and I will be getting this most likely on release day, the 12th.

Wwhhhheeeewwww!!!! Boy is this a stinker!

Marafice Eye and I played the first couple of levels last night coop. Super bland and boring gunplay. Omg, I was not expecting it to be this bad. You'd get the impression that this game was slapped together in a couple months. I waited for this game for 4-5 years or more. What a disappointment. I paid $50 for it and I'm going to finish it with Marafice but man.... this game kinda sucks so far.

Not recommended.


Take a look instead at the previous AvP or AvP Classic. Both can be had for $5 or less sometimes during sales.

I saw you picked it up. Well hey, if you feel like playing a really mediocre shooter with some friends, join Dan and I if you feel like it. For the amount I paid, I'm going to finish it but man is it disappointing so far.

I do like that there are a lot of sound effects from the movies but there is this odd, flat low fidelity to them. The sound field is flat and boring. Also... wtf is up with the graphics? They are not very good at all. The previous AvP game looks WAAAAYYY better than this. In fact, the AvP from 2000 had better xeno deaths and kills. In this, they just sorta play out a canned death animation (take be back to the 90's!! ) but in the 2000 'Classic' version it was fun to use your pulse rifle to blow apart bits of the xeno. That game was actually scary too. This one Dan and I are just making fun of it throughout.

Maybe it gets better. We stopped at about the third level or so. It looks like the game has about twelve. I'm going to push on and continue more tonight and tomorrow.

If you bought it, play it and get a friend to join in possible. If you have not bought and are stilll sorta curious, wait til it's $10 or less.

Yeah, I didn't fall for that one. I may be more apprehensive in the future but luckily for me, there really aren't many games I'm interested that are in the pipeline. Bioshock and GTA....pretty short list.

So Yrd joined us last night and we played the whole rest of the game in 4-player coop and at the hardest difficulty. This ramped up the intensity a good bit and with Yrd and another friend, the overall experience was much more fun. This is definitely a coop game. I couldn't imagine having ANY fun by myself with this one. We had a blast! It was fun killing things in coop and making fun of how crummy the game is.

Not much replayability though. I gasped when I saw that my total playtime for the game was 5 hours. Beat the whole game in five damn hours. Wow.

What price range would you consider 'mid range'?
