Epson 3020 using H and V keystoning ... light leakage?

The projector is located to the right side of the sofa, so it's using both vertical and horizontal keystoning.

You can see after the AppleTV GUI ends, there's sort of a purple/greyish light that casts beyond the video, until the white wall resumes.

Is this normal? Or do I need to return this unit for another?

This is my first projector, and not sure what I should be expecting. If this is normal, is there anything I can do to mitigate this? (I'm sure I know the answer to this one, but thought I'd ask smile.gif

Two possibilities...Either you're getting that because you have the projector off to side and have to use a lot of correction or you're sending an image that is not the same aspect ratio as the projector.

If it isn't the aspect ratio issue, then move the projector so that the lens is lined up with the vertical center of the screen and readjust, you should see that diminish.

Either way, you're degrading the image by using so much correction. Yes, it's available but that doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. The best image starts with mounting the projector where the manual says. If you do that, you should need ZERO corrections.

Oh, and what you're seeing is not the fault of the projector, you'll get that no matter what projector you use unless you make those corrections.

Thanks!!! Sounds like I'll have to learn how to deal with it smile.gif

Once the projector is ceiling mounted, I have to angle the projector down a bit (9ft ceiling), since there's no vertical lens shift on the 3020 frown.gif ... so for sure I will have to do some vertical keystone frown.gif

Again, mounting the projector where it is supposed to go eliminates or at the least, minimizes the need for corrections. That includes mounting height. Look at the manual, it will tell where to mount the projector in relation to the top of the screen. That means it will be down from the ceiling a bit.
