The BMS group buy thread!!! - Page 3

Wait a sec wait a sec let me get my puny AE order decided, in and shipped before you guys go nuts and everything is backed up for 18 months again wink.gif
post #62 of 486
so just to confirm.... the group buy is officially now "on"? i can call in my order now to the distributor and just reference the id# included in the email that was sent?

Do we have a firm cutoff date in mind once we hit the minimum required quantity to achieve the discount? Say 2 weeks after we hit the minimums and someone is going to alert this thread when we hit the mark? Or is it sort of open ended and something else will dictate the closure? Before I call in my order to the distributor and have them charge my card for a sizeable order of CDs and woofers, just want to be somewhat in the know on time frames. Thanks!

So there's going to be two charges for shipping in this or the distributor is willing to offset some shipping for a large single order since it is one drop ship for them (likely a pallet via freight if there are a lot of woofers on it)? There will be a freight charge to get the stuff to Erich that will somehow have to be divided up to apply it to everyone appropriately based on how much and how big the items are that folks order....and then we'll have to pay him shipping to get them from Erich's place to us? just wanting to understand all the fees in this...

The buy is set, you call in and tell Jack what you want..he includes it in the shipment to Erich. There is no shipping being charged for the shipment to Erich, but everyone will have to take care of their own shipping from Erich to them.

I was going to try to cut it off quickly, but we have waits on some other things too, so I supposed 2 weeks from today will be a good time. The minimum will be close to met with my order, so as soon as a few others get in, it won't be a problem. I will update the thread daily and give, say a weeks notice before we close it off. Once the order is placed, BMS had the product and it should be to Erich direct form BMS within 3 weeks.

If you choose to pay by credit card or paypal to the distributor, you will need to add 3%. It yields a 27% total discount net. Shipping from Erich will be different for each, so I will leave that detail for him to state.

I get a FedEx discount and will simply pass that along. On all the stuff on the site, I do add in the price of a shipping box which might be $1 - $3 depending on what size is needed. I just want to break even. smile.gif

Hahahaha...that pretty much sums it all up. Having a small business and a rediculous amount of expenses helps too, once you get past all the self employment tax mad.gif

i already pay too much...WAAAAYYYYYY too much. but it's ok, i'm happy giving the money that i work my butt off for to all of the lazy people in this country. i mean, if i didn't have to give so much to support their lazy behinds, i would be inclined grow my business faster and hire a couple of them to actually be a productive part of our society. and we all know that wouldn't be a good thing!

True. I'm thinking about getting a set just to play with. I don't have much confidence they'll be an improvement over this:

But they still would be fun to play with.

That 4593ND is sexy. Too bad it can't work with a SEOS 12 or 15 design in its current form. SEOS-24 is just too wide frown.gif

I should just buy 2 4550s for any future designs.

Is there anybody that has the BMS pricelist that wouldn't mind sending it to me? I emailed Jake yesterday and he said they were getting ready for the big storm (doing it proper...neighbors and plenty of beer biggrin.gif ) and didn't have access to his business email and would send it this morning -- I imagine he is still dealing with the 3' deluge of snow.

If you could send me a PM, I will fire over my email address.

TIA!

That's all you need is more speaker components in storage. They will go well with those SI's gathering dust. tongue.gif

Hardy har har!!! smile.gif Although there is a certain element of truth to what you speak... rolleyes.gif

I have one 4592ND 16-ohm coax compression driver...I was thinking it might be getting lonely and need a mate. Also have a couple of 4590 8-ohm ferrite monster coax drivers and was curious what the price would be...they're not on the list; although the 16-ohm versions made the list (great price as well). Another conspicuously absent piece is the 8-ohm 4550... confused.gif ...16-ohm is on there. The 4550 is a nice driver (proud owner of 5 of those...one per Yorkville U15 Unity...own of them brand-new as one of my Unitys arrived with a dead CD). I hear Erich's Denovo DNA-360 will give the 4550 a run for it's money though and it's quite a bit cheaper (even after the 30% discount).

I wonder if the list isn't quite complete? Just looked up the passive crossovers for the coax drivers and all that's listed is the 16-ohm.

Sorry for the delay on the list guys. I have spent most of the day digging us out of the house, came in for mandatory AVS breaks biggrin.gif I won't likely have acces to my office unitl Monday, sorry. Glad some folks who I had already sent it to reached out and helped!!

As you stated Aaron, the list is not complete, just a large part of the offerings. Anything that is not shown is still available, just needs to be asked for on the call to order and prices will be given.

I havent read through the thread or anything, so sorry if this has been answered, but is there a planned flatpack to be made with this erich (or any other persons who would be into it)?

There is not a particular build that folks are ordering for, its a general BMS group buy for any BMS gear you want. I am doing a large build and that is what got me to look into BMS, and eventually ge the group buy set up for any folks who want to jump in. My build won't have any flat packs or anything like that. I can't speak for Erich, but that's the story on the group buy

Thats unfortunate since I would not be competent enough to do a build on my own without at least a flatpack available. Someone should get on it smile.gif

The enclosure is the easy part. If you either find a build that's been done, or reach out to tag on to one of the new builds (I'm sure there will be many with all the group buy goodies smile.gif ), you just have to follow instructions for the most part. You should jump over to the DIY FAQ page that Gorilla started, it will run through the needs to diy your own. A few hundred in tools can get you started.

You could also check out the existing faltpacks on diysoundgroup and find one that fits the build you would like to do... or just do an existing seos build.

Thanks for confirmation on the list no-shows.

lol Im well aware of the theories behind speaker design, but in practice I doubt I would get far. As for various builders like erichs or zaph or the like, I would rather someone have do the legwork and I just copy.

I see that on their website they show a 4593ND and a 4594ND. The specs for them are nearly identical.

Does anyone know what the difference is and which one is better?
