Just trying to get some thoughts on a room layout for a dedicated home theater room. I can put walls anywhere really. I need a storage area and playroom for the kids as well. My only concern are those stairs right in the middle of everything ...ideas?

What are your goals? How many would you like to seat? Can you move the washer and dryer at all?

Maybe something like this, with the bottom right being you theater and the top right being storage:

Excuse the quick and dirty paint pic.

I dont think i will put in the bathroom or the washer and dryer downstairs. I wanted to have maybe 2-3 rows of 3 seats. The rec room in the photo is a good size 12x22' and would be great If I could figure out how to work around the stairs. I guess I just have it in my head that the side walls should be solid with no doors or anything. Maybe I am over thinking it? Thought about just a straight wall next to the stairs the whole length of the basement, then split the other 2 rooms in half and enclose the furnace/water heater. Is it an issue to put a door off to the side next to the projection screen?
