best sub for 3xDefTech studiomonitors 45 and Pioneer SC 1222K?

hi guys...

I have simple question.. Receiver is Pioneer SC 1222 K and it would be 3.1 system for now.. with 3 x Definitive Technology Studio Monitors 45 OR 55 (not sure yet which one, $199 ver. $299 each)
I would have L/C/R - DefTech SM 45 or 55 setup...

what would be the best SUB for them in price range about $500?

Any advice welcome and thank You.

How large is your room? Is it open to other rooms or sealed?

Off the top of my head I would look at:
- The SVS PB1000 that is $499 shipped
- The Klipsch RW12 that is $299 after coupon code:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780078

A pair of Klipsch subs if you can stretch your budget a little would be awesome. I have heard both the Deftech speakers you are looking at and I liked them both. I know Sound and Vision reviewed them both and actually preferred the 45 to the 55. If you got the 45's and had dual Klipsch subs it would be a kickass system for the money.

thank You for input.. I am leaning toward the SVS SB1000. Seems like PB1000 might be little bit to much for my small apartment area..

Another thing I am wondering about is... if having DefTech SM 45 as a center is a good idea? or should I go with center channel speaker?

For a small apartment I would think a SB1000 would be a great fit.

It is actually prefferred to have three matching vertical speakers as your left, right, and center. You should get better off-axis response with the matching SM 45 center vs the horizontal center channel.

Seems like you will have a nice little system. Let us know how you like everything.

can You please tell me, whats the point of all the center channel speakers? Cost of them is much higher.. do they deliver better sound there than adding 3rd matching speaker of L/R speakers?

Also, what do You think about these: https://www.svsound.com/sbs-02#.URUeC6WRjlI

I was thinking that maybe if they are quality speakers I could get 3 pairs of them and do 6.1 system? Any ideas welcome.. thank You..

Mostly, it seems they're designed to fit in low, wide spaces in front of, and just below, displays. (I have yet to see a picture of a set-up with an acoustically-transparent screen where the owner uses two mains + a CC speaker. They always use three mains.)

They shouldn't, no. The ideal front soundstage is three of the same make and model (and version) of speaker.

eljaycanuck covered your other questions, but I can help you with the SVS SBS speakers. I used to own the SCS-01 SVS line and have spent time with the SBS speakers and they are a good value for the money and fine for surround duties, or for a small room like an apartment. If you plan on moving to a larger place in the future you may want to consider the Deftech speakers as they are more efficient. If you think you will be in a smaller apartment for awhile, the SVS speakers are a solid choice.

SVS the company has excellent customer service and they build very quality products. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Ok guys, here is my floor plan. Also I have high ceilings.

I'm not planning to have any major move to bigger place anytime soon. But also, I want to make sure, if I spend my money, it will be once for somethig good and reliable. Also something, ill be happy with for longer.

How far back do you sit from your speakers?

You have to factor in the total size of the room (length x width x height) and also factor in the size of all the other rooms and add them together. Sound travels. But, how far away you sit from your speakers is a key thing to consider.

I think the SVS speakers would work fine as long as you are not trying to play them very loud. That said, I am inclined to tell you to buy the Defech speakers.

Tough call.

Rythmik has their new FV12 version out at $549 including shipping. Should have a noticeable output advantage over the SVS PB1000.

Very nice. I did not know it was available and shipping again. I agree that this one should be at the top of the list for $549 shipped.

Got my new sub. This thing is HUGE! I mean it. Sounds great - 5 stars.
But for overall look I would give it only 1 star.
Wish I went with SVS, but oh well. Ill have to suck it up and take the quality over how it looks

This thing is 69lbs. udyge5av.jpg

Trust me, you get used to the size fast. Within a month you won't even notice it any more. At least that is what I told my wife when I put four subs in our room smile.gif

Uh-huh. How did that work out for you? Did you get "used" to her complaining about the size? smile.gif
