Mitsubishi DLP TV HDMI display issues / occasional green flashing power LED

Hi all. Been searching and kinda stumped. I bought an HDMI switcher and used it to connect a Wii U and Apple TV to one of the HDMI ports. Occasionally the TV has issues turning off or accessing the input menu and I'll see the power LED flash green. Last night, when I switched on the Apple TV and sound bar, the screen kept switching between empty black with no sound and very briefly the image from the Apple TV. I wasn't able to use the TV remote to change inputs or do anything. My other HDMI ports, the PS3 did the same thing, the Xbox 360 worked fine. I had to physically unplug and the TV from the wall and then plug it back in and fire it all back up. Then everything was fine.

Curious to see if anyone else has had this issue and what it may be, and if I have a time bomb on my hand. Thanks.

Many of us who had that same problem needed the main board replaced.

If you've ever built a computer, updated your video card, installed a hard drive it is easy.

Plugs can only go in one way and into particular sockets.

Just take your time and it is no biggy.

The boards are available. You'll want to check Encompass, SearsParts, jimmytv, etc.

If you trust eBAY they can be found there.

Edit: And I'm not telling you I know for sure what your problem is. Just that for many of us that symptom equaled needing new main board.

gotcha. progressively more funky behavior tonight. TV sat at the "Mitsubishi Electronics" blue screen, then hung on a green screen, intermittently played audio, then about a minute or so into that came to life. had to turn it on/off as well.

What model is it? Maybe just a firmware update.

Anything is possible of course but these symptoms appear to be hardware not firmware.

I recommend checking the firmware first. It's free.
