My Samsung is dying...

So have a 56" Samsung DLP circa 2006, and it sound like the color wheel is failing. Already had the light engine replaced once. Anyhow I'm looking at a replacement in the 55-60" range. As many issues as everyone has, and unimpressive lifespan, I'm not inclined to spend more than $1000-1500 this time around. Obviously I want a decent a picture, with minimal issues. I don't care about 3D or "smart" apps. It will be primarily fed with an HTPC, so no weird hiccups with that would be preferred. I *may* game on it, but nothing serious so no need for the absolute lowest input lag.

I was considering a Samsung 55ES7100, but the price seems like it went up a bit from last time I looked. Also considering LG 55LM7600 and 60LM7200, and Sony 60EX645. Any thoughts?

The ES7100 has an excellent rep on this forum. It has gone up $400 from the last few weeks at Best Buy and Amazon. You could try and haggle for that price or wait for it to come down. They change their prices every week.

I had a friend that had a samsung DLP, probably the same exact model but I am not for sure. He had nothing but problems with it, samsung kept fixing it but the last time he got it fixed he sold it on ebay and just went and bought an LED to replace it. Samsung is a great brand I think it is just those DLP models that had a lot of problems.

You should be able to get a solid Samsung in that price range.

So you feel the UN55EH6000 has a decent picture/color/blacks, good with motion, works well with a PC, and minimal issues? I'm reading the owner thread now...

I just recommended a UN55EH6000 to a friend and they really like it. But I just wanted to note that it has a semi-matte screen, where the UN55ES7100 and other Samsung models have a glossy screen. I personally like the glossy screen, but my friend wanted a matte screen. He is aware of motion issues and we set blur 10, judder 0 and he hasn't complained. He doesn't use it with a PC.

I prefer matte too. I wonder if the LG LM7600 are glossy or matte?
