TV Stand (integrated) mount: with provisions OR way to mount router, ect to (Back of column)

Greeting Earth Clan,

[Sorry for the length and disoriented ramblings. Just trying to "help you help me" with as many details as possible.

Please read, even if not familiar with particular Sanus piece, looking for other similar mfr/models and/or ideas to
mount accessory hardware to rear of column that does not have mounting provisions....

First, here's a link to a Sanus TV stand with integrated pillar/column mount that has provisions to mount small hardware
accessories to back of column

Sanus FMS01

REAR OF MOUNT SHOWING WHAT I'M INTERESTED IN and Need suggestions for:

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), default quality

I'm currently planning and shopping for A/V Furniture and Components for medium/small Living Room Home Theater.
Wall mounting my new 55" Panasonic Viera ST50 is probably not good idea, at least until spring and summer lighting
moves sunlight angles to reveal whether or not preferred wall is too bright for plasma.

I'm not exactly crazy about the few Sanus compatible stands/cabinets that work with the mount above.

I do, however, really like the the idea of mounting router, ect on back of column....

Could possibly avoid having to buy separate a/v audio shelf, or the like, to house things like:
- WiFi Router, which has 5 or 6 cat6 Ethernet cables causing it to be quite an eyesore.
- Also need to try to do something to hide 2 unsightly xbox 360 power bricks as well as surge protector., maybe even
usb portable hard drive, hdmi switch ?

Here's what I need help and advice for/about

1) Is anyone familiar with the Sanus FMS above, specifically how well the mounting system actually works
in practice with various shapes and sizes of accessories?

*2) Recommend other MFR/Model (Line) that also feature some system or provisions for rear column
mounting system?

Budget roughly less than $500, so unfortunately, NO BDI or Salamander, ect priced items are relevant to me ;(

**3) Ideas, suggestions, or tutorials for improvising rear column mounting? Modifications and/or
hardware accessory methods to facilitate mounting on any/most column mounts???

?4) Other ideas for neat and tidy placement of router, surge protector, ect.... Whether concealed somehow or additional
a/v furniture.

???5) Advice for concealing/ minimizing clutter of
A) Game Console (spec. Xbox 360) or similar Power Bricks

Thanks for any input!
Hopefully thread isn't so long that I scare off any would-be advice..
Also don't think there is too much traffic in this section, but afraid off-topic elsewhere...?

Just found Best Buy sells identical stand as an Init FMS model and is only $90 vs 179 for Sanus.

Can't seem to find out any info, like Sanus has, showing compatible stands for the FMS mount.

*Still wondering and looking for OTHER mfr's that sell similar stand style
or ideas for mounting hardware accessories to back of mount columns without provisions...

Thanks - shouldv'r posted elsewhere I think!

Yeah, I might give that a try! Didn't really think about it, but may work...

Excellent timing: I was just looking into this myself and bought the Best Buy verson because of your post above. The new stand and TV haven't arrived yet, but I'll update once I have it all setup.

And I like that velcro pads idea too.

Hey, not sure if you already purchased, but now that I have the mount (I'm using it with a Sanus stand), I think you could attach the mount to non-FMS pieces as well. If the furniture has a solid base rail and a good attachment point at the top, you could screw the brackets directly to it.
