Installing a Brighter Lamp

Hello!

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 Rear Projection TV. The original lamp went out after many years of great service.
I have found two lamps that I think are compatible with the housing(links below).

One lamp(the original) is rated at 3200 lumen and the other one is rated at 5200, which is quite a difference. Both claim average lifespan of 6000 hours.

So I am thinking about getting the brighter lamp, de-tune it a little in the settings of my TV and prolong the life of the bulb.

I admit, I had my tv's brightness set high. I enjoy bright, colorful images and also use the tv for gaming.

Will the brighter lamp work? Any issues that my occur because it is brighter? Does it require calibration(I am not sure how it's done yet)?

Well I don't think it's that simple OR maybe it is simple... NO you can't do that. Its not the matter of the "same light housing", its the matter of the same operating rating.... your unit especially the "nice" ballast unit expects a "nice bulb" that is rated for that circuit.... otherwise you are going to be replacing a few more things after the next "turn on".
