A new comedy starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2024432/?ref_=sr_1

Apparently, an infamous critic ain't happy with this flick:

I would perhaps give this film some respect if it had a satisfying conclusion in the vein of McCarthy's character being tied to the front of an 18-wheeler and driven into a cement wall going at 100mph.

Nothing against Melissa McCarthy herself, but I think her characters have been much too annoying for their own good.

Also, I cannot find comedy in the premise of an identity thief being tagged along for a ride with her victim and further destroying his life in every way she possibly can. There should be no redemption allowed for such scum, just a terrible demise. biggrin.gif

As much as I doubt such an ending would pass the studio's PC police, it sure would be great (like War of the Roses).wink.gif

This was one of the worst movies I've seen in a while. I'm all about going for the ride but you'd have to be a complete goof to believe any of this nonsense would ever happen. It's frustrating and it's just not funny. At all.

Vudu showed:

RottenTomatoes: 20%
Vudu users: 3.7 out of 5 stars

Yep, sounds about right.

Yep, total crap fest. Too bad especially coming off Bridesmaids and Horrible Bosses/The Change Up. I'm genuinely excited that Jason Bateman is doing so well.

I got some laughs from it. It's all I expected.

Saw this movie a while ago ... and didn't go in expecting to see a 60 Minutes documentary. There were many laughs, some cringe worthy moments, and some silly shenanigans. All in all, this is an OK movie, deserving a B- grade, IMO.

My daughter and son in law saw Identity Thief and liked it. I avoided the film in the theater but because of the high marks my family gave it, have been trying to decide whether to rent the BD.

I'd go C grade. I wanted more from Bateman and McCarthy.

I get ya.
The trailers are so over-the-top as to be cringy.

I like both of these actors quite a bit, but I don't know about here.confused.gif

even snakes, as a species, should be offended by this movie.
