Me personally try to get my games new as much as possible, as I've had many problems with used games before. Hell I even had a disc with jam on it. Can you believe that, jam!

Even with all the gnashing of teeth about the PS4 by me and others, I do hope it's much better and more customer friendly than we think it might be. Crossing fingers and toes even though I'm not a gamer.

Nah, I clean my discs before selling. Fruit/people-based jams just lower the resale value.

Not surprising... very little is made in the U.S. anymore.

More like we swipe money into existence that we have to pay for plus interest while @ the same time the federal reserve types made up money digitally on a computer that we have to pay for!

Yea, we are pretty screwed. It's all by design though.

S0, about the PS4. Can't wait to see what the future brings for this console, and how far game devs are willing to go with the games.

Gaming history in the making

When are they going to show what it looks like? I hope they go with a more functional looking console that the PS3. The PS3 is one of the ugliest devices I have. Well the PS3 and the Boxee Box.

I didn't read the last 4 pages. What is the debate so far in the bluray player. I know it has the optical drive from a gaming site I follow.

From the official Sony PDF it states that it will be 6X BD & 8X DVD read speeds. BDXL drive?

Really, is that better than the PS3?

I personally wouldn't be surprised if they released a model with a regular BD drive and 6-12 months later a model with BDXL.

Not too horribly different from when Sony released the 3D firmware but the Fat PS3 could only play regular DTS or DD while in 3D which for the audio buffs was quite a bummer. I think it was well over a year before they released a firmware that allowed the Fat to play HD audio during 3D BD playback.

What do you guys think?

Ultmately the goal is pure downloads, in the interim we will need a way of getting data to the HD. The sata3 HD has by far superior data transfer rates compaired to an optical reader.....not to mention error checking...

My guess is as a interim solution the required data(other than download) will be supplied on optical disk( BD50x2+) will need to be part or fully transfered to the HD prior to play, it may buffer part and then play.

They may develop a 4k play from the optical disk.......but I think why bother, download model will need a HD.....so why not utilize that now, BD50 is mature and cheap, pop 4k data on a BD50 or two, transfer to HD and play...when downloads are fast and furious.....the HW is ready to go!

Hopefully all of the audio sources for PS4 are HD from the beginning. I think we're far enough along that there's no excuse not to. Other than the majority of users not hearing the difference...

Fat does hd audio and 3d at the same time via Hdmi now? When did I miss that helpful nugget?

About HD audio.
I have a 7.1 (really 9.1 with "front presence") in a Yamaha RX-A2000 AVR and I have never sat and compared Toy Story 3 DVD vs BD audio, but even when I played Star Wars Episode 1 DVD back in 2004 on my 6.1 non-HD system it sounded impressive.

What the heck am I supposed to be hearing from HD audio anyway? Seriously, does it even matter what the audio is if it's not a $20K designated home theater room?

edit: I want to add I understand needing to fit more channels thus needing the HD audio standards, but I sure don't hear the bitrate differences.
